The GOP can talk all the shit they want - it would be easier to teach a leopard to change his spots than for that party to embrace a black man in a leadership position.

And treat him with respect.

3. I think race is the easy, but often the wrong answer.
Watts got the same level of respect any Republican leader gets--smiles to the face and knives to the back. Republicans bicker quiet, but they bicker ten times meaner than we do. Colin Powell, got rogered by the Republican establishment, alright, but it wasn't because he was black. It was because he was sane. The day I heard him denounce "corporate welfare" at the 1996 GOP convention, I knew they'd be fucking him up for the rest of his life.

It would be remarkably convenient if the Republicans were all racists. The truth is rarely so simple.
