That bailout money is OURS. If it goes to the banks, then
every damned mortgage should be reduced by the amount each taxpayer is further in debt because of the bailout. If you don't have a mortgage, then the banks should have to deposit the same amount in each person's savings or checking account. TAX-FUCKING-FREE!!

4. Problem with Republicans and their corporations is they want to capitalize
profit, and socialize losses.

15. The Dems worked with Bush to do the bailout; not the repubs + our party is in total control
Repubs made a mess by blindly following Bush but Dems passed every appropriation bill too and for the last 2 years had power to turn things around.

The October Surprise Bailout for Big Banks/Wall Street was almost entirely passed by our party.

I personally don't want any more money going to the big banks--if they need money now it is because they have failed.
Money should only go to the solvent 2nd tier banks.

Larry Summers and Geithner should be sacked. Rubin should be jailed somewhere far away from the White House---these guys are 3 toxic assets.

2. Somebody at the next lunch table
was saying he was against it because it included 600 million for STD research. He must have been thinking there would be no consequences to abstinence only education.

All those kids, should have just said "No".

Life is so simple when you're a repub.

6. Forgive my stupidity.
I thought the money was supposed to stimulate the economy and create job growth?
Spending 600mil on STD research sounds like Pork to me.

7. Who does the research?
Not the lobbies, nor the bankers. Tax payers working on a problem do.

9. Not the lobbies?
The Health industry makes out on this big time ,when they find cures for some STD's they patent it then charge people for the drug.

14. Thats business in America.
Would you prefer they don't hire researchers to find the cures?

If they don't make a profit, how do they pay the light bill and their employees?

8. What happens when research is performed?
Utilities at laboratories are turned on. Someone has a job doing that. Grids and infrastructures delivering those utilities must be maintained. Someone has a job doing that. The laboratory has to be inspected. Someone has a job doing that. Equipment must be manufactured and/or refurbished. Someone has a job doing that. Supplies must be ordered. Someone has a job doing the ordering and someone else has a job manufacturing those supplies.

Research generally is performed by doctors, lab technicians, and documented by medical clerks. To get them educated enough, there must be teachers, books, educational facilities. I'm sure you get my picture.

12. And that could be so
If we allow the elected officials to continue taking corporate money. We need to clean up the whoredom that is inside the beltway. Balancing the right to freedom of speech and buying off a congress critter is not easy. Unbiased education of the people who represent us will be a tremendous factor in helping them stay independent. However, many politicians don't really want to work that hard.
