Limbaugh is losing his cool.
I listened to him Friday and he lost it on a young woman who was not quick enough on giving him the answer he was demanding. This young ditto-head practically salivated on him in recognition of the great honor bestowed by putting her on the air with him. But Rush was unbelievably rude and hostile to her. So much so that after the break which followed her call, he said that his handlers had insisted that he apologize to her. What followed was almost as weird as the original assault. His apology consisted of equal parts explanation of what she did wrong and incredibly boastful statements about how getting through to talk to him was the highlight of many of his callers' lives. Then he snapped at his staff who were telling him off stage to feign some contrition.
His erratic behavior may have more to do with his drug dependency than Obama's brilliant gambit of using him as a wedge in the GOP. But whatever the cause, the fat ass was showing telltale signs of cracking under the stress.

3. Did you hear his arrogant "I've got a better home theater than the WH" remark?
He was saying the reason Obama didn't invite him to the
Super Bowl party at the White House was that he wouldn't
"buckle" the way the Congressional members who were
invited might. "He doesn't invite me because he knows
I won't change my mind about his policies -- I won't
buckle like the people he's invited might. And by the
way, I have a better home theater system than they have
at the White House anyway, so I'd rather be watching at
home."

I'm REALLLLLLY looking forward to OxyBoy getting his
comeuppance ...

Funny how all of Obama's opponents eventually lose their cool and make an ass of themselves. Alan Keyes. Hillary.

It still works. Smart people will be taking notes from Obama about how to respond to nasty Republican attacks for the next 20 years.

The President drops in one line to a conversation that he knows will be widely reported and gets a week of fat ass spouting hate while the question is asked if he is the voice of the GOP. Mathews, Buchanan and the other talking heads can chalk this up as an error on Obama, but they are dead wrong. Those guys and Rush are playing checkers, Barack is a chess master.

96. Bullshit. And a lot of us are wary of simple slogans.
I still am. I am hoping that Barack was more than slogans and that this stimulus package will be able to do some real good for the economy, but I'm not banking on it. Too much evil was done in the past 8 years. It's a long road back, and slogans don't get us back there.

112. Suggesting
that Barack is just slogans is pretty insulting and completely ridiculous considering he published a book on his views before the election, gave a number of detailed policy speeches, and had many pages of policy plans on his website. Hillary acted like a condescending asshole in that video. She lost her cool and a lot of people changed their opinion of her after she went negative like that. Obama knows how to get the best of people who can't handle being outwitted by a young, uppity black man.

9. I know a guy who has worked in radio for years
He's pretty big in the food chain and knows all the major talents. He says that Limbaugh is the most miserable paranoid weirdo he's ever met in his life. According to him, Rush drips with self-loathing and insecurity. I don't always subscribe to the notion that hateful people really just suffer from low self-esteem but it seems to apply in this case.

Grossly overweight for most of his life, a drug addict, a flaming hypocrite, and an enormous liar. Don't think these guys really believe the lies they tell. They know they're lying when they lie, which is either always or at least most of the time in his case. Anybody that lived a life like that would inevitably end up hating themselves.

41. Rush is under alot of pressure right now
The left is about to use him as a rallying cry to support Obama's agenda and the RW wants him to STFU so they can formulate a strategy to make a comeback.

Rush is an entertainer and a propogandist...during the Bush and Clinton years he got his talking points from the White House or the Party and would try to make humor with the talking points of the day occassionaly he would freelance but there was always something to support. Right now there is no one in charge of the GOP and the GOP controls no branch of Government and Rush doesn't know what his talking points are so he is free lancing. When someone like Rush free lances its a dangerous thing for the people he's advocating for because behind Rush's facade of conservatism there is nothing...he has no principles other than Republicans win democrats lose.

44. The GOP has no leader right now
There is no one with any stature left in the party after the Bush years to keep the many factions of the party in line. Anyone of any prominence is tied to Bush and help get them into this mess.

There is no govenor, senator, or any other person who can get the factions to sit down and talk with each other on a unified strategy. They have no elder statesmen other than Pappy Bush and from the looks of him at the inaguration he's in no shape to save the party from itself right now and there is no one there to hand Rush his talking points to sell which means Limbaugh is creating his own.

It's chaos and its beautiful.

In our party we always had people like Kennedy, Mitchel, Nunn, Cuomo, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, etc...people who could walk into a room and at least command some respect. They used to have Baker but something tells me he's too old for this type of job anymore. Who are they going to call with stature who isn't anciet or tarnished by Bush, Dan Quayle?

48. Rush will not be taking orders from anyone currently in the GOP
The people Rush grew up with in the party and who could reason with Rush are now all in exile or too old to deal with his bloated ass anymore.

Rush has an ego, he's been there for 30 years, he won't be taking any orders from any newbies and the people who could give him orders were all tied to Bush and are trying to hide for a while they are in exile from the party for the disaster of the past 8 years.

53. It is a wonderful thing to watch. Line in the sand time--you're with Rush or you're against him.
And if you're with him, put him on a ballot.

If the age of "Rovian" politics have ended, I believe we're seeing the beginning of "Obamian" politics. With one simple sentence our new President has sent a ripple through the republican party that will tear them apart. The more play it gets, the more Limbaugh is in the spotlight, the more the rest of the GOP will have to go on the record as being with him or not--all the while, Obama is wooing the ones with any political sense to move away from the crazy wing of the party and push the dittohead crowd further into the fringe.

Obama is absolutely brilliant, and those who said he never should have dropped Rush's name should be paying close attention in the coming weeks. The effect was never meant to be immediate--it just placed a tiny crack in a dam that was just waiting to break open. Its going to be fun to watch the flood.

side of the line. Even Palin, whom Oxyboy pronounced the voice of the GOP, has announced in support of the stimulus bill. To quote the song that got The Smothers Brothers kicked off the air and apply it to Rush: "Knee deep in the Bid Muddy and the damned fool said push on".

so innocent and naive-appearing. That straw may be the one that breaks that camel's back!

I used to see pundits call Poppy Bush the "scalpel man". But Obama is the true scalpel man. He just took a needle sharp blade and swung it across Limpball's neck so neat and clean that neither Limpball nor his lunatic fringe M$M bloviator supporters even realized it. But eventually with one pluck, his head will fall off and he will be no more.

72. Recently, he's had a few callers that have outsmarted him, & played him for a fool, & some loyal
listeners that are generally pissed at him - ie: the retired gentleman that chastised him for insinuating he was "on the dole" for receiving a retirement package. Rush eventually hung up on him.

I do believe that he is becoming punchy because he's been had more than a few times lately. And he knows that the only reason he's "on top" in so many places is because there's no competition, and certainly no one with a differing opinion.

He does very poorly when he is challenged, or when he needs to make any sense at all.

116. Have you heard the intro to Hannity's radio show?
It's like a parody of a right-wing radio intro, with everything but machine-gun fire. (Anyone remember Mark Marin's brilliant right-wing radio spoof?)

First there's that "Let Freedom Ring" song (which I actually kind of like), whose lyrics about freedom and the white dove soaring (and of course "roll away the stone") sound like something penned by the prizewinning Ashcroft-Hatch songwriting team.

After a bit of the song, an agitated, intense announcer intones "The radicals are in charge, so hold onto your wallets. Your taxes are about to go....SKY HIGH!!!" I guess the scariest, most un-dovelike thing they could come up with was tax increases - kind of a letdown after the freedom and the stone and all.

Anyway, I like the intro but once Sean comes on I tune away.

88.  The caller was very young and and very nervous.
She started out by saying what an honor it was to speak to Limbaugh. How he had been a voice that she relied on to teach her what was happening in the world. As Rush is listening to this usual gush, he was very impatient and clearly disinterested in what she was saying. Eventually she got to her point which was the need for conservative leaders to remain strong. At this point, Rush started to badger her about what she was doing to help the conservative side. He went after her like an angry prosecuting attorney yelling her at least 3 times asking how she would teach children to resist socialist teachings in the school. He was hostile, rude and convoluted. Finally, the young woman either hung up or the staff realized how bad this was playing and terminated the call. Limbaugh was clearly pissed off, in a rotten mood and took it out on someone who revered him.

103.  Good point. He loved savaging Clinton and that resonated
with his audience at that time. Although savagery is his default approach, he is finding out that what worked in the 90's sets him up for wide spread revulsion now. He is having to play against his natural instincts and he is not liking it at all. Add to this, the classic bully not knowing how to react when his intimidation tactics no longer work, you have a recipe for a crack-up of massive proportions. I have seen him dismissed as irrelevant, but I disagree. One of the major assets the RW has deployed in their mesmerization of the American public has been talk radio. It is a propaganda machine that Goebbels would have admired. If Rush is toppled or marginalized, the ripple effect will be important for keeping the country behind the president.

It helps me prepare for what my co-worker ditto-heads are going to spout when we talk politics. It reveals what the most RW of the GOP is saying. It alerts me to the specific lies and mischaracterizations being spread. It gives me insight into who in the commercial media is feeding at the Limbaugh trough I despise Limbaugh so it also gives me a great deal of pleasure to hear him rant, rave and stress out. Does that answer your question into my personal listening habits?
