Will Rush be man enough to accept Campbell Brown's challenge?

Campbell Brown Challenges Rush Limbaugh
Huffington Post | Nicholas Graham | January 31, 2009 05:38 PM

Campbell Brown, the anchor of the CNN program "No Bias, No Bull," has challenged conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh to come onto her show and debate the merits of the stimulus package. CNN's chief business correspondent Ali Velshi had criticized Limbaugh's stimulus suggestions, offered on the op-ed page of the Wall Street Journal, and Limbaugh fired back at Velshi on his radio show yesterday, calling Velshi "incompetent."

Campbell had Velshi on her show last night to address Limbaugh's criticisms in a lengthy rebuttal. She then invited Limbaugh to come and debate the stimulus package with Velshi, instead of just lobbying personal attacks on his radio program. We'll see if Rush accepts the challenge.

Ali Velshi is the economist that Limbaugh excoriated on his show Friday. Personally, I doubt very much that Rush will be up to it. Like all bullies, he runs from a real challenge. He's on his game if he can cut off people's microphones when their inconvenient facts don't match up to his bombast.

Good for Campbell for being smart enough to offer Rush a venue and a real debate.

3. Regardless of Campbell Brown's affiliation
Rush does what he does. Stays in his studio, says what he wants, cuts people off when they start to gain ground.
He never will accept a challenge from anyone for a debate, no matter what.
As the OP mentioned he's a pissant bully who spouts and runs.

40. Did you miss the part
where it says the "debate" would be with Ali Velshi? It would not be Campbell Brown just interviewing Limbaugh....Ali Velshi is not exactly chopped liver.

42. Thank you! It seems like most people did miss that point.
She asked him to "debate" Velshi. Not to just answer softball lobs from her.

Of course, if she's the moderator of the debate, she can screw it up with bias and unequal time, but then her own performance gets judged. George Stephanopoulis and Charlie Gipson are still recovering from the hit their reputations took due to their Presidential debate performance.

2. No. He is too scared of any enviroment he doesn't control. And he KNOWS he is a liar
so why would he go on a national TV and expose himself for what he is.

I'm not a huge fan of Campbell or Velshi, but just by maintaining some level of truth and fairness, they would make him look like a completely unhinged idiotic liar.

So, no he's not man enough and no he won't go on.

15. I recall a video clip of Rush, from quite a way back.
He was a substitute moderator of some sort, and the audience consisted largely of middle aged ladies. He was a lot leaner and trimmer then, but they ATE HIM ALIVE. It was a real pleasure watching him get rattled by degrees and pretty well losing it. That was probably the moment that he decided that he would NEVER again appear in a venue where he didn't have complete control of the mike.

Anyone else here recall viewing that? I'm going to start Googling to see if I can find it again. Amy suggestions for keywords?

He was a substitute host for a TV show. It was the early 90s. And the audience literally creamed him.

44. No, he won't go.
And even if Rush did show up for two minutes, all he would do would be to yell and scream over what anyone else might have to say. There would be no "debate" but rather a screaming match.

He and O'Reilly are nothing but big foghorns.

4. Rush man enough?!?!?
He wasn't man enough to join the service instead of letting an anal cyst keep him out.

He wasn't man enough to endure a backache without taking enough Oxycontin to choke a horse.

He wasn't man enough to get it up without sneaking a fake Viagra prescription.

He wasn't man enough to actually vote for a president before age 42, despite now making a huge income espousing his political views.

He hasn't been man enough for the entire duration of his radio career to accept a face-to-face debate with someone who disagrees with his views. It's highly doubtful that he will suddenly grow a pair and take up Brown's challenge.

God I'd love for him to be broadcast in the UK, only for him to be yanked off so fast in fear of a ton of fines from OFCOM, though I wish it were IBA days when they had real teeth... Sadly, Mr. Limbaugh will remain an Internet-only phenomenon outside the USA. (AFRTS excluded, of course).

29. On Friday Rush sounded like he practically wanted to challenge Velshi to a duel-
kind of that Zell Miller outraged honor type of thing. It always reminds me of Foghorn Leghorn.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foghorn_Leghorn

I used the phrase "man enough" somewhat tongue in cheek, because it is such a dated and passe stereotype of male posturing - just like Rush himself.

Edited on Mon Feb-02-09 11:05 AM by olegramps
He exemplifies every thing that today's Republican Party stands for. He is the personification of the greed and racism that is their hallmark. He is their Pied Piper leading the worst elements of American society. Every Republican is the enemy of the Republic in that they endorse out right lawlessness. Their continued endorsement of their party's leadership who have spit on the Constitution make them my enemy.
