16. The Conservative Era?

The golden age of American Conservatism? 30 years of supply side economics come to full fruition? The last days of the American right? The logical conclusion of conservative thinking? Lots of options there.

I still say Bush was the most successful president ever, in the sense of carrying through the far right ideology of his backers to an unprecedented degree, despite massive unpopularity and the ever looming potential of criminal investigations. I mean, who would have thought in 1999 that the wildest fantasies of the Grover Norquists and Ayn Rands of the world would be almost entirely realized in 8 years?

Any term that sums up the era needs to focus on this reality. No "incompetence era" or "stupidity era" or the "oops, we messed up era" but simply pointing out that the disastrous results of the Bush presidency were actually the desired and stated goals of the far right corporate powers of the world.
