Bush and Cheney were STRONG in pushing through whatever and WHOEVER they wanted because corporate media PLAYED IT THAT WAY and every single Republican in DC would stand by them, no matter what.

Was Daschle or Killifer or Richardson corrupted in any way that would have stopped their appointments if they were Republicans? No.

The corporate media is controlling the debate on the stimulus and on the appointees, and soon it will be about Obama's apparent inability to put a team together. This way they will pressure Obama to make 'safe' appointments that WON'T cause a backlash....in other words....center-RIGHT appointments.

The corporate newsmedia STILL needs to be targeted if REAL CHANGE is STILL wanted.

1. Linda Chavez, Bernie Kerick, John Bolton, Harriet Miers...Remember "Recess Appointment?"
Bush made a lot of recess appointments because he either failed or knew he would fail to get confirmation of his pick.

3. You said everything I came in to say.
Also, even if he did...er, didn't everyone hate Bush because he was an angry little bully? Why would we want that?

6. Very little disturbance on those, and not played like Bush was weak - in fact - Bush was lauded as
being strong if he they withdrew and strong and outmaneuvering the Dems for appointing some during recess.

Kerik lost it because of using 9-11 for S-E-X.

13. They failed. That's big disturbance.
If your point is that the media favored Bush, we all knew that. But he had his problems, too.

And Kerick officially withdrew over hiring a nanny without paying taxes, but the bigger issue was business corruption and his realization that the vetting process would expose stuff he didn't want exposed.

16. The corporate MEDIA didn't target those appointments. No matter what, Bush was played as strong
and it is already apparent that media is exaggerating the problems of Obama's appointees to make it out like Obama is having trouble and is already faltering.

THAT is my point. And Bush DID get ALOT of crooks into his administration thanks to media DOWNPLAYING their pasts.

5. Bush Didn't Set High Standards For His Administration And .....
he was arrogant and really didn't care what people thought. He was a bully - like someone already has pointed out. I don't want Obama to run his administration like Bush ran his. That's why I voted for Obama. In my opinion - the people spoke and this administration and its designee listened. This is real progress and change. I really think the people trumped the media in this case and that's why Daschle stepped down.

9. Nope. Obama really wanted Daschle. GOPs wanted to smear a Dem target and corpmedia did what they
Edited on Tue Feb-03-09 01:59 PM by blm
always do - side with the GOP machine.

I don't care if Daschle was HHS sec or not....I just don't think Dems should always be the ones targeted by the corporate media.

You think corpmedia isn't helping GOPs shape and control the debate about stimulus, either?

no matter what the hell the GOP and their enablers (the media) said. So why are we blinking and letting them get their way (again)?

12. It is all about political capital
Of course he could have gotten the nomination approved. However, how would the masses look at the nomination? How would the masses feel if 3 or 4 of these people approved? I think Obama is, smartly, saving political capital to be spent at a later date.
