A very good pt indeed...

He/she reminded me that Edwards opposed gay marriage during the debates on moral grounds. I had let this not so minor detail slip out of my mind. On that basis his cheating on his wife DOES become hypocritical and I can now see Edwards behavior as hypocritical which I have a problem with, the adultery wasn't a big deal to me until that person made this very valid point.

I didn't find the comparison at all useful.

Whatever it is that might come out, it needs to come out during the primaries or sooner.

There was little point in comparing infidelity to sexuality, it was bound to become a heated discussion.
