Obama's Keeping His Pledge to Abolish the Politics of the Past

Most here aren't going to like this, but Obama's not a Democratic Party fan boy. And what many (including myself) are having difficulty dealing with is that we've been trained to hate by Rovian politics. We've been demonized as traitors by the Bush administration, its pundits and ditto heads. And we are still angry about it. It's difficult to overcome the wrongs that have been committed against Progressives, Liberals and Democrats. It's difficult to overcome the wrongs that have been done to America.

If we can't come together despite partisan divisions and divisive political tactics that have been used in the past, how can we expect to tell others to get along. We have little credibility telling Israeli's and Palestinians, Russians and Georgians, Indians and Pakistanis to get along if we, as one people, continue to demonize each other.

Obama is for America and the American People, not a political party. He ran on the Democratic platform because it is very much what America needs. But what America needs can't be accomplished with Democrats alone. It just isn't possible. We need to work together as one people to solve these problems.

And that is exactly what Obama is doing. To say I am uncomfortable with working with Republicans is an understatement. Their party took America to the brink of destruction and led to the deaths of thousands of Americans and many more innocent citizens of the world. Obama is spending his political capital because he must. What he is doing is not easy, but he believes it is what this country needs in order to heal. One of the cornerstone pledges of Obama's campaign was to "heal this nation".

The antiseptic is burning and it is quite unpleasant. But it is what is needed in the long run.

Obama can be as postpartisan as he wants..the republican's AREN'T playing. This makes the whole idiotic "postpartisan" scam look like what it probably truly is: a smoke cover for pushing DLC agendas.

There is one thing that you postpartisan pushers continuosly conflate: postpartisanship in CONGRESS and bringing together Americans of all political stripes. The former is a pointless and impossible venture unless you accept that Democrats effectively swing right enough to actually be politically indistinguishable from moderate Repukes. The latter indicates that the American people overwhelmingly VOTED for Democratic leadership, NOT middle of the road waffling. In either case, postpartisanship is just another veil for corporate pandering, NOT effective change. I would, however, ask that you stop conflating Congress with "the people". Oh, and I think we've had enough fluffy, empty campaign rhetoric. We're ready to get shit DONE.

13. I'm convinced that the republicans do not want any stimulus package to be approved.

If one were to be signed by Obama, it may help the economy and there is no way that the republicans will allow that to happen.

They will not allow Obama to be part of any success.

The 2010 elections are near and that's all that matters to them.
