Let The Senate Repunks Filibuster the Stimulus Bill
Remember what Newtie did to Bill Clinton when he shut down the government in 1995?

Good.

Multiply that by about a factor of 100 and you'll get an idea what will happen to the Repunks if they delay the stimulus bill -- Obama will come out smelling like a rose, America will (I think) respond with righteous fury at the obstructionists who care more about their own power than the country, and it will make every other Obama initiative, from a greener energy policy to health care reform, easier to pass in the future.

This seems to be where McClueless and the rest of the Party of Southern Bigots and Igonramuses are going, and Obama should just let them if they're so damn convinced it's going to get them more votes.

It won't, and that's good for America in the short and long run.

4. I am beginning to think the Republican face time has been with this in mind
The stimulus was (and may still be) very popular. They did not have the political cover to filibuster outright so need to bring the perception down some on its benefits before they do so.

That is why you very rarely hear talk about killing it and mostly about changing it.

It is a delicate thing, though.

5. Time to pull it out "We want an UP or DOWN vote on this package" use their own words.

6. Hold them up for America to see as obstructionists and then trot out the Republican governors
who favor the stimulus and then watch the naysaying senators fold. My hope would be that once you break them, stick a fork in them, they're done.

7. People hate the Republicans right now.
The Democrats are missing the boat by not standing up to them. If they would only stop all the bipartisanship crap and start standing up to them the people would cheer.

Let the GOP stand up and filibuster until they're blue in the face. I think it would be a very healthy thing. While american's are losing their jobs, homes and businesses, thanks mostly to the GOP's mismanagement, seeing them standing up in the Senate and stalling progress would be a real eye opener.
