The Dems Put More In The Stimulus Bill Which Is EXACTLY What DU'ers Clamored For
Edited on Wed Feb-04-09 01:36 PM by KittyWampus
in the past.

When you negotiate, you start with more than you know will pass so while you negotiate with the opposition you end up with what you really need.

That is what DU'ers have clamored for Congress Dems to do for years.

That is exactly what the House did with the Stimulus Bill and yet DU'ers are now bitching about it saying the House should never have put xyz in the Bill.

Recognize the hypocrisy please.

The House put in XYZ and will end up taking out X and Y and be left with the rest of the freaking alphabet... plus a few annoying bits to appease the Republicans.

1. I think some are rightfully complaining that not enough money is being spent for infrastructure
Edited on Wed Feb-04-09 01:39 PM by Better Believe It
and that this needs to be increased while programs that have nothing to do with stimulating the economy should be removed from this bill and be included in other appropriate legislation.

Well, I hope that's what people are "bitching" about.

I think that's a legitimate complaint.

2. My "legitimate" complaint is primarally...
the Tax cuts, which have been proven not to work, make up too much of this bill.

5. Well, the tax cuts are for the Middle Class and a part of Obama's plan from the beginning.
Edited on Wed Feb-04-09 01:52 PM by KittyWampus
Last I read they were 20%. And if they are cut out, that's part of negotiating.

However, to get the Bill passed with some Republicans it'd have to have some tax cuts, wouldn't you rather those cuts go to working middle class families?

But then, frankly, you do absolutely NOTHING but complain about Obama and his Administration. There's a point where one ignores people who have nothing positive to add to any discussion.

6. They do not belong in this stimulus (spending) bill.
Tax cuts do very little to stimulate the economy, as the last eight years have shown. Pass the tax cuts separately.

7. One more time. To get Republicans to sign on, tax cuts have to be there. You want working families
to get them or multinational corporations?

12. No, we do not.
Let them attempt a filibuster. But keep the Senate in session and make them stand there and drone on for hours, days or weeks, I think the American Public, who elected Obama will get tired and put an end to it. We need to play hardball, or we will get nowhere.

13. Why would I waste my time posting about what I like that he is doing?
What would be the point of that? There is an awful lot that I do like about the Obama administration, (Whom I voted for, and supported with many hundreds of dollars)But, I post about what I see as wrong moves, and I will continue to do so. Do not assume that I am not a dyed in the wool Democrat because I post my opposition to specifics.

10. Every time I see the total cost climb, I'm saying "GOOD!"
Edited on Wed Feb-04-09 02:07 PM by backscatter712
It should be creeping closer to a trillion. The bigger, the better in this package - the more is spent, the more the economy is stimulated. Granted, some of the money is going to be wasted - we need to be focusing on the stuff that is known to have high-bang-for-the-buck - food stamps, unemployment extension, infrastructure building, etc. and try to steer away from the low-return stuff like Bushian tax cuts for the rich.

Now how do we get this past the Rethugs? We'll have to throw the DINOs and Snowe and Collins a few bones, unfortunately.

14. I can underst prioritizing a handful but they KNEW the GOP was going to go after this as pork they..
...KNEW this and didn't revise it to mitigate against the GOP message discipline that they do NOT possess.

OR..OR they could have GOTTEN some message discipline and threw what they wanted into the bill and beat the GOP upside the head with it but didn't.

Could care less if they had a million for hot dog stands it's the selling of the bill that has failed.
