Obama and the echo chamber -

Caught a replay of the President's interview with Cooper (CNN) yesterday.

I was struck by Obama's ability to acknowledge the media's echo chamber on tidbits of policy proposals - which become the 24/7 news cycle and gist mill of the internet, for better or worse - while speaking right back to his broader agenda. And his knack to do it with a measure of humor, clarity and honesty.

Not only that, he made sense. To me. And in the realm of national economics I appreciate that. Didn't dumb it down or politicize it for mass consumption.

Maybe there is an end in sight to the round robin speculation that has become political discourse of late in this country.

After the interview, I turned off the TV.

Thankfully, I didn't need someone to tell me what the President just said. Now there's a bit of change.

1. Last night, Cooper played the interview and then had a panel

to comment. David Gergen said President Obama was a calm and reassuring presence for the public and then said, with a straight face, "He speaks like an adult." Change for sure!

3. I'll second Gergen's comment. Obama's an adult in the office.

2. I love it when he drops a rock in that chamber

and it messes with the talking heads mental audio. Kinda like they are in a cartoon getting their ears boxed with cymbals.

And it is self replicating. Cooper did well, though, imho.

6. Every time I hear President Obama speak

I'm always impressed with how smart and articulate he is ... but I shouldn't be! A president should be smart and articulate, but after eight years of the mumbling Bush, I think we have all become accustomed to just being happy if the president makes it through one sentence without making a fool of himself.

Kudos to you for not having to have things "explained" to you by pontificating putzes who pay their rent hyping up non-existent controversies and just flat out making crap up.
