Something Pres Obama Said When He Signed SCHIP Today Disturbed Me.....
he said - 'if' the Economic Stimulus Bill is passed instead of 'when' the Economic Stimulus Bill is passed. I don't know if that was intentional or a slip - but I would have preferred the more positive statement 'when'.

7. I said as much last night...
however, I was having a meltdown. I think my brain explodes and splatters on my cubicle walls at work at least 5 times a day because of the stupidity of corporate culture. More so when I get home and read the news. I don't have much brain matter left.

4. I prefer the "if" simply because
"when" denotes an air of presumption and President O'Bama generally has nuance down to an art form.

5. I agree
He truly does. I'm quite sure this whole GOP love fest is part of the same.

9. If he used "when", the Repubs would bitch about
him being presumptuous. They would be quick to remind him that the Senate has to pass the bill. They would say that this is blatant disregard for the wonderful Republican senators. "What economic stimulus bill? We aren't going to vote for that crap. We won't vote for a plan until we make one which serves our partisan interests. You say when? You say when as if to make it sound like the Repubs are holding things up. We are going to take our sweet ass time. Don't act like you expect it to pass soon. It won't pass anytime soon if you continue to act like we don't matter. Just because you are a democrat and democrats hold the majority in the house, doesn't mean that you can forget about is."

Senate Republicans are so entitled that one word could get them on their rant about Dems acting like they rule the world. They have such contempt for Dems now that the tides have turned and they are in the minority. Obama spent plenty of time talking with them, but it didn't make much difference because they are going to be hardasses anyway. They know that he wants to work towards bipartisanship so they will resist it so he looks stupid.
