We Must Spend the Next 12 hours lobbying our Senators.
Edited on Thu Feb-05-09 09:56 PM by styersc
We cannot spend the night chatting abojut evil Dick Cheney or crazy Freepers!!!!

Our President needs us and too many Senators are gettig cold feet!!! Call, e-mail, fax. Look up contact numbers and let's get to it.

I am from South Carolina and will not waste the time on useless DeMint or L. Graham but will contact leaning Senators from other states. I am particularly pissed at Sen Webb's (Va) cowardice and will write a polite note.

Be polite but honest. Do not swear, curse, threaten or demagogue. Be professional, pragmatic and mainstream like our president but we must get this done!!!!

Start Here: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

1. The only legitimate lobbyist is...
The American Citizen...

There is no time limit for lobbying our Congress - it is our primary job...and unfortunately, we *all* fail to do enough.

Why do I say 'fail to do enough' - because America has been decimated from *within* on every possible front and we have not taken to the streets.

8. Great post, snoop dog. I think sometimes we citizens don't lobby our leaders
enough because some of our Senators and Congressman really disdain citizen participation - or at least they certainly make alot of people feel that way.

Sen. Mary Landrieu.

Dear Senator Landrieu,

Please be the Democrat I elected you to be and support the Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Thanks!

5. I shot off an email to Senator Woodwork Specter
He's been pretty quiet lately. I'd be surprised if Sen. Casey wasn't on board, but it wouldn't hurt to send my 2 cents just in case he's having second thoughts.

I'm always nervous when I make phone calls, though . . . any tips?

7. Emailed Casey and Gov. Rendell
I told them they both should be out there in the media fighting for this. Where are all the good Dems when we need them? The Republican's swarm the media outlets like locusts on Red Bull. Damn it.

9. k & r
I called my republican senators -- they won't be voting yes, but I wanted to remind them that I am a constituent and just as our president is all of our president, they represent all of us here, even those who did not vote for them. It's not OK for them to just ignore those who are not in their party. After all, they're all over the cable news whining about bi-partisanship. does that not apply to the very people they serve? If not, they have some serious explaining to do.

If you don't feel comfortable calling, you can email.

Just tell them that you want them to pass the recovery plan ASAP. Get on the bus to help America and stop playing partisan games. People are dying of cold, hunger, etc.

12. Kick
The Repubs are doing to this President what they did to Clinton. They're jamming legislators phones, email boxes, they're in the minority and they've got a target to direct their hate, and if there's anything the looney RW do well is express their hate. Just a reminder we all have to keep the heat on as well to counter this.
