Former Chief of Staff Card: Might as well be saying, "PUT YOUR JACKET ON, BOY!"
At least one prominent former Bush official has the following message for President Obama: I don’t care if it’s warm enough to grow orchids in the Oval Office. Put your suit jacket on.

In an interview scheduled to run Wednesday night, Andrew H. Card Jr. told the syndicated news show Inside Edition that “there should be a dress code of respect” in the White House and that he wished Mr. Obama “would wear a suit coat and tie.”

Mr. Card, who was George W. Bush’s first chief of staff, becomes the first member of that famously buttoned-up administration to criticize the more relaxed Obama dress code.

After 8 years of possibly and irrevocably bankrupting the nation as well as the unnecessary bloodshed, who's sullying the Oval Office...?

But would gladly wipe his ass with the Constitution.

That's the TREATY TABLE (used to sign the treaty that ended the Spanish American War, been there since Ulysses S. Grant was President).

Link to source photo: http://www.whitehousemuseum.org/floor2/treaty-room.htm

Bush treated it like he just picked it up at Office Depot.

Coat, tie? How about on the staff members? Not so much. Khakis and a sport coat are not "formal business attire" either.

33. It's the media "BOY" thang...
The generals showed up on the first day to get the "BOY" back in line re: Guantanamo and Iraq. Now it's getting the "BOY" in line about the "dress code" others have NOT observed. Perhaps the "BOY" is to "arrogant" to realize that's just what he is to them.

8. As your boss boy once said, andrew: WHO CARES WHAT YOU THINK???
Excuse me, but did YOU win last November? Where's your Election Night victory lap? Did I miss your acceptance speech? Did I doze off on the reports of the rapt crowds surrounding you and pouring the love and admiration on you? Show me the money, 'eh?

Since when do we care what you think? And who the hell do you think you are whining like this? Some pre-K bully? Who selected YOU president?

Nobody, you say? Well, okay then. Go to the BACK of the room, sit down in the corner, and SHUT THE FUCK UP.

10. Card should have stuck to
his assessment of junior from around '91-92. Back then he gave an interview in which he described W as "the Bush family joke." Instead, Card will always carry the stench of junior's tragically unfunny joke of a presidency.

11. Tweety's reply to this was pretty good....he pointed out..
if he had to pick between a crowd wearing jackets and shirts and the crowd wearing suits were the crowd that blew up the economy, started a war on false pretenses and turned surpluses into a larger deficit than all previous presidents combined, he'd certainly pick the crowd wearing the shirts.

12. KO took it to him tonight.
When chimpy and Cheney were trying to talk Paul O'Neill into taking the Treasury Sec job, they yelled for Card to get them some lunch. Cheeseburgers!

They didn't come quickly enough, and chimpy berated his chief of staff to get their damned cheeseburgers! You're the chief of staff! get us our burgers!

I guess he was wearing a suit and tie that day.

You can read about it in "The Price Of Loyalty".

32. Bush in the Oval Office
Like Bush was showing great respect for the presidency and the oval office by being plastered? Come on, Andrew!!! You must be pretty desperate for some publicity to stoop to something like worrying about what Obama is wearing to get your kicks.

I don't care if Obama sits naked in the chair. I care that he takes care of the mess that Card's boss left us all.

Edited on Fri Feb-06-09 02:05 PM by backscatter712
In Card's world, if you're white, you get the alpha-dog positions, you get to take off your suit coat and put your feet up on the desk.

If you're black, you're just the hired help, you have to adhere to a strict dress code and do what you're told with a snappy "Yes, massa!"

He doesn't want Barack Obama as the example for African Americans, he wants Stepin Fetchit.

Stay classy, Card!
