This is why I said yesterday why he felt the need to announce he had the votes.

He has got to be one of the worst leaders this party has ever had. Apparently Obama had to save him from bringing it to a vote last night and being publicly embarrassed.

1. This is not the first time he's announced he "had the votes", only to be wrong.
Why can't he keep his piehole shut?

22. he said it yesterday. he said they thought they had the votes to pass the bill.
then today he thinks he can get it passed by this afternoon/evening. i guess now i know why the republicans can dominate like they do. the dems seem to climb in the hole and hand the republicans the shovel. wtf!

3. I still have to wonder why Reid wasn't replaced with someone like Boxer
and Pelosi in the House replaced with someone with more ovaries/balls? What is this be nice to the gop shit going on? The gop does not control the debate, Democrats do. Let's for once act like it.

5. Why do we have such losers leading the congress?
These people are not competent. I would give anything to see Dick Gephart back in there. Is there anything that can be done about this? I mean, leaders don't lose their jobs unless we lose the majority right?

12. I thought they had to be voted in by their colleagues for each session,
but maybe not.

15. Every two years they have a vote at the start of the session.
Unless there is something egregious wrong or they decide not to run again or there is a change in party control they will automatically get elected.

4. He better not bring on the vote unless he HAS the votes.
End of story. He needs to have ALL the Democrats on board AT THE VERY MINIMUM.

14. It's so embarrassing...
Why can't Barbara Boxer or Dick Durbin be the majority leader???? Yesterday, those two were kicking ASS on the floor. They would be so good at that job. Why must the democrats be determined to fail by placing the weakest link in a leadership position?

17. I've often thought that the reason Republicans announced that they're targeting him
is to try to rally Democrats around the most ineffectual minority/majority leader in at least 5 decades. As someone upthread posted- he really is an embarrassment.

18. If he can't deliver, he needs to step down.
Based on the past few days, Boxer has been the best at getting a good strong message out. I'm sure there are others who would do a good job. I really don't understand why they picked Harry Reid in the first place - seniority? He is about the last person in the world you want to see as the public face a re-invigorated Dem Party.

19. I totally agree.
Boxer rocks...I'd love to see her as Majority Leader. Seniority is the only reason I can see for the Dems to have re-elected Reid. Big mistake, IMHO. It's not like sucking is new to him...been one of his traits for awhile now.

20. What the fuck is wrong with that pussy?
You don't say you have the votes unless you have the votes.

You don't make bluffs when you know the opposition can call them.

Get that miserable twat out!!!

21. If you have the votes you call the question.
What you don't do is announce it to the world. This is just pathetic. Reid has to go and now.
