Matthews: 'Precious' ex-Bush aide 'dainty' about how Obama dresses
Former Bush aide Andrew Card has gotten the attention of a few cable networks because he recently criticized the way president Obama dressed in the Oval Office. Card thinks the president should always wear a jacket while at his desk.

"Isn't former Bush chief of staff Andy Card getting a bit dainty?" MSNBC Hardball host Chris Matthews asked.

CNN recalled a picture of the former president without a jacket in the Oval Office.

"Perhaps Card did not see this picture -- oh, yeah, of President Bush taken two days after his inauguration. It clearly shows Bush in the Oval Office there, but not wearing a coat. Perhaps Card is also unaware Presidents Ford, Carter and Clinton were photographed in the Oval Office without wearing a jacket. In fact, Clinton was photographed wearing a short-sleeved shirt and a flannel shirt in another shot," said CNN's Kiran Chetry.

-----

Matthews noted a few "smart decisions" Bush administration officials made while "smartly dressed."

"Starting a war over a baseless argument," Matthews noted. "Bringing a government in surplus into adding more national debt than all the previous presidents put together. Oh, yeah. Letting an economic boom under Clinton become an economic catastrophe. If that's dressing for success, I'd prefer shirt sleeves."

3. Matthews can be sexist at times, but Card is playing the role
of "fashion police" and deserves to be called out on his hypocrisy.

15. The clothes do not make the man
Whatever 'smart' dressing is, there was no way to cosmetically improve his lack of smarts.

in the Oval Office. Obama never lied about his "dress code." Just one more lie by Bush (brought on by a member of his own admin.).

12. But, but, but, it's a sacred site! It's a holy shrine! Bush even put the sun
in that room (on the floor for everyone to walk on).

I guess Card wore his American Flag lapel pin on his PJs?

It's about appearance rather than reality.

Speaks volumes of Card.
