Grassley now on floor and has done it twice in 3 minutes...

I never heard Bush referred to as just "Bush" in Congressional speeches.

9. I honestly believe it is more the (D) part
than the African American part.....They rarely said President Clinton either. .."Bubba" was big.

11. This is the Senate floor, where protocol must be followed. It's "President Obama"
or "The President". Nothing else. Are you saying that Senators on the floor of the Senate called Clinton "Bubba"?

13. No, I'm not..
and I agree about the protocol...What I was pointing out was that I don't think failure to use the title here is as much about racism as it is about the (D). They DID often refer only to "Clinton" on the Senate floor.

But, then...Dick(head) Cheeeney told a Democrat to fuck off...on the Senate floor. Not during debate, but on the Senate floor, none the less.

I wonder what Andy Card thought about that!?!?!?!

3. They are trying to disrespect and undermine Pres. Obama whenever they can. It makes me sick.
I hope these fuckers get their asses handed to them in 2010. I am sick of hearing the hacks like Newt G. on tv spouting nonsense. Say what you mean and get to work helping the American people. These political games are tiresome. Especially when our lives and my childrens lives are at stake. Go play your silly games somewhere else.

6. I've been noticing it too on news shows
Either senators or congress or even news reporters and talking heads, many of them seem to have a problem saying "President Obama" or just "The President".

I don't know if it's a lack of respect or the newness of his appointment, or they are just making a point to say Obama to avoid making people think they mean Bush, , Or maybe President Obama gave them the OK to speak informal. We know he feels uncomfortable with all the hoopla surrounding that office and has tried to bring a bit of "button down" causality to the office, so maybe it's something he doesn't mind, Who knows. Either way I do wish they would for the sake of the history of that office and the man himself pay him a little more respect.

21. It's only been a few weeks and after 8 years some habits are hard to break
So it's not out of the rhealm of possibilities that people in the news organizations are saying "Obama" instead of "the president" out of some sense of making a point of who they are talking about.

7. My friend went to her mom's church on Sunday
and noticed that they were saying prayers for "Obama" and other leaders. They said it several times and never said President Obama. She thought that was strange. Whenever she went while Bush was in office, they always said President Bush. Could these "people of faith" be racists??? LOL!! Yup.

28. This President Especially
I'm pretty sure the republican's never, ever referred to 43 as just "Bush" on the senate floor.

And you gotta know if a democrat ever did it, the GOP would have gone into frenzy mode, just like they are over the "suit-jacket gate"

"casualness" of the republican senators???

They cry over a jacket in the office and then they break protocol to this degree?

Write some letters people! let's show a little liberal fauxrage!

(remember to be indignant, intolerant and judgmental or no one will listen)

It's quite a stretch, with absolutely no evidence to support it.

It's just the repukes taking slight shots at him by not addressing him as they should.
