9. True,
The really sad thing is that the provision that he and Smith wrote received 20 votes on the 21 Senator Finance committee and it was put into the Senate version of the stimulus package. The Republicans filibustered the entire Senate bill.

Acorn had NOTHING to do with the housing problems!

8. This is fantastic - he really mad a clear case

for giving money to states - so they will not have to lay off state employees. He also explained how far from normal the debt to family asset ratio is - that will make people getting a tax cut, apply it to the past consumption debts.

Said to the TN Senator calling for dealing with housing first that the Republicans stripped his and Smith's provision out and because of their indifference a year ago, it is now out of control! He said he was the ONLY person at the meeting on the stimulus last year with Bush who called for dealing with foreclosures.

He spoke of how tax cuts can even be used for non-American purchases which will not stimulate American production.

Speaks of how even doing the stimulus and the housing components, we are not in good shape as many of our banks are essentially bankrupt - he quotes Krugman - and this gets worse as we dawdle.

This is classic common sense Kerry, who sees the urgency in getting something done. (This is must watch)

15. Thanks so much for this! :) Kerry kicked so much ass in that speech! Told it just as it is. ..
and with so much passion and conviction. (Compare that to McCain's stumbling rant earlier. Kerry, as a representitive of our side of the argument, was MUCH more persuasive). I also love how he pointed out that they are like a "year too late" to this argument and how when he spoke to the Bush WH about it, he was virtually ignored. Very gutsy. This is what I love about him. :D America sure missed a grand opportunity when he didn't get in. :( *sighs* But we are getting it now, with President Obama and I'm glad to have great leaders in the Senate like John Kerry on his and our side as the policy is being fought for.
