Finally! Norah O'Donnell goes off on Sen. Thune
Edited on Fri Feb-06-09 04:06 PM by rufus dog
Thune came up with the latest diversion, no stimulus money but 936 million of tax cuts.

O'Donnell reads a Heritage Foundation study (making a point of saying it is a Conservative Think Tank) stating tax cuts DO NOT stimulate the economy.

Thune then goes off on the talking point that the Stimulus bill doesn't get money into the economy for years and she calls him out saying "that simply is not true."

Good for Norah!

Edit - Contessa is on now and she is a bit pissy about the stall tactics also.

1. I was watching with the sound down and couldn't believe what I saw ...
Who at the Heritage Foundation wrote the piece she
cited? It seemed far too rational to be coming from
that place ...

12. the bill has bi-partisan support from ECONOMISTS
it's the hacks making the laws who are trying to convince people they know better.

cue: joe the plumber, john mccain (the fundamentals of the economy are fine! 10.15.08), and lindsey graham.

21. Well of course Joe the unlicensed Plumber wants tax cuts!!
Isn't he writing a book? Probably paid handsomely for it. Does he even know how to work at a real job?

22. yes he made a big deal about tax cuts for that non existent business of his
and then we found out he didn't even pay his taxes....

so, he's a republican for sure.

He lies about his qualifications, doesn't pay taxes, is suffering from self-aggrandizement, is a bigot, and is dumber than a box of rocks.

He's a GOPPER.

:-)

and no...I don't think he knows how to work...but you know, work. it's for the little people...a grifter like Joe the country singer/plumber/journalist/ economist can get by with a little palin speak and a lot of hate. cheap fuel for the ignorant!

3. We need to use that study as part of our offense
Edited on Fri Feb-06-09 03:54 PM by TornadoTN
Sure, it's from a scum institution, but it backs our cause and diffuses their arguments effectively. And it's easily verifiable - so I guess a stopped clock can be right on occassion.

5. Right.
They end up faced with either agreeing with it, or having to publicly disagree with one of their biggest talking point factories.

6. I agree with you
She has a conscience and today she showed up. The media is a huge part of the problem and if more act like her then the elected officials will be less likely to get on TV and lie.

But then, I'm not looking at her through a guy's eyes.

19. I think Nora O'Donnell gets about the right amount of criticism.
Not only is she flighty at times, but she also makes hay of little nuisance issues. I don't care whether her hair, make up, clothes, or any other surface issues are right on target or off color.

Her substantive knowledge on issues is usually off base. She may not have a lot of time to prepare for her desk role, but it is her job to continue to correct guests when they screw up. David Shuster generally does a better job than most of the desk anchors from 6 am to 5 pm.

I watch her because she has some grasp of the issues.

maybe they're afraid of seeing President Obama pissed at them. I don't know what exactly has caused this change in direction by MSNBC, but I like it!

has influenced Tweety to be more outspoken too.

14. Well, I can say that CBS...except for Letterman, appears to be in the bag for the repukes.
When I listen to the news on CBS radio, I hear constant ads for FAUX NOISE, Loofah OLIEly, and when they want to talk business, they have someone from that FAUX Busyness station. UGH.

23. I never know what to expect from the MSNBC anchors.
I've been ready to break my TV watching Norah or Contessa, and then they will turn around and chew someone up I hate. I think it's funny because the guests don't expect it. In addition, when they choose to, both of them can be quite cogent in their remarks.
Alex Witt is the one I haven't really seen a glimmer from.
