Senate Agreement on Huge Stimulus Cut! Only 780 Billion In Senate Bill!

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Democratic and Republican Senate negotiators have reached a tentative agreement for a $780 billion stimulus package, according to two Democratic sources and a GOP negotiator.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has taken the list of cuts to the nearly $900 billion Senate bill to fellow Democrats, the sources said.

The Senate plans to reconvene at 6:30 p.m. ET.

4. Senators Can Vote This Republican Written Stimulus Plan Down!
Many Republicans "out of principal" will vote against it and together with liberal Democrats this bill will not pass.

The original Democratic "partisan" bill will pass.

Only a filibuster can slow it down and not stop it.

6. The Senators should tell Reid to stuff the bill where the sun don't shine.
Will they do the right thing?

8. The Cuts Are So Deep It Appears That Republican Senator Voinovich Pulled Out Of Negotiations !

That may be the reason since he's a "liberal" Republican Senator from Ohio that needs a lot of economic help and stimulus money. I haven't read anything indicating he dropped out because he thinks too much money is in the stimulus bill.

-------------------------------

The news came after a key Republican senator dropped out of negotiations for the economic recovery bill Friday.

Ohio Republican Sen. George Voinovich concluded that his "philosophical" differences with the approach of Republican negotiators was too great, a Voinovich aide said. The senator said he could no longer support efforts at compromise or the final bill, the aide said.

Voinovich's departure left four Republican senators involved in the negotiations, and Democratic leaders will need at least two or three GOP votes to pass the bill.

Later, Voinovich issued a statement that said he was disappointed the negotiators had not been able to "construct a responsible bipartisan alternative to the Democratic stimulus plan."

10. I hope Obama will ask Reid to not run for re-election,
and try to get a real Dem in that seat. Or maybe he can lobby the Senate Dems to send him to the back bench and replace him with Boxer.
