Republicans are STILL in their "let's fuck America up as much as possible just because we can" mode!
First of all, how likely is it that this bill won't pass? I'd say it looks good so far, hopefully.

But seriously. We're on the verge of Great Depression II because for the past 8 years they preferred to spend money buying Hummers and Learjets and blowing up Iraqis for shits and giggles rather than on things that really matter. And now they're trying to prevent the passing of a bill that can start the process of undoing all their fucking looting and pillaging of America they've been doing. Haven't they screwed us over enough? Do they live to be the biggest assholes possible? If they had their way, 95% of America would either be living in cardboard boxes or little more than indentured servants for them.

 :argh: :grr: :nuke:

4. I lurk at conservative blogs. This is the attitude.
This is not a party that was looking for an outreached hand.

8. Yes. It will teach us a lesson, they say.
Also just read today that Repubs "learned obstructionism" from teh liberals, so we should be happy that they are being the loyal minority opposition. :puke:

5. Their main goal is for Obama to fail.
Edited on Fri Feb-06-09 06:31 PM by Avalux
Whether or not the bill will help is irrelevant - they simply do not care about such nonsense. If they can manage to keep Obama from success on this, they will pat themselves on the back and claim victory.

A cheap, vile victory.

11. Agreed. It's about the ideology
The GOP spent decades in the wilderness once FDR's New Deal (and WWII) rescued the economy. Their supply side, laissez faire model was out of favor big time and they were the minority in Congress for what, to them, seemed like forever.

They spent the last half of the 20th century railing against what FDR and some of his successors had done... from Social Security to Medicare, it was all so against their ideology.

Their biggest nightmare is that this stimulus will somehow work and they will be faced with another extended period away from the levers of power.

14. It isn't a mode. It is the way they are deep down inside. Calling it a mode implies they have
something else to offer. And they don't.
