GOP folks following bad advice....protesting President Obamas stim bill
is gonna backfire big time.

nit picking 1.2% of the total package is not going over very well...

They know not what they do and continue to fall apart as a Party....

They actually think by voting Steele into the RNC will turn the tide....are they deluded or what

and now they have passed the stim bill but only after major damage to themselves...

I wonder who is telling them Pubs what to do....

3. Remember the Republicans want to drown the government so
Edited on Sun Feb-08-09 10:45 AM by The Wielding Truth
they are still fighting against it's economical survival.

All this foolishness is another campaign to destroy our democracy so that they can pick over the bones.

Show me anything that they have supported over the last 20 years that has strengthened the middle class.

A strong Democracy cannot prosper if our middle class and a common good government is drown!!!!

Sorry, I strayed from the point of the thread.... Obama and any and all advisers should do what is best for the middle and lower classes. Concentrating smart money on the roots of a national crisis always works.

6. Re: Steele - Are they deluded or what?
The answer is "what". They are bigots. The Republicans really believe their own BS that the reason that Caucasians people voted for Obama was out of guilt for how Blacks have been treated by them. It wasn't that Obama was a superior candidate, had more to offer them, and people felt more comfortable with him being in charge. They were voting their guilt.

By bringing in their own Black "leader" they believe they will bring those Whites home. In their mind, it doesn't really matter who the Black man is, as long as he's Black, semi-coherent and dresses nicely like Obama does. Just as their misogyny led them believe Palin was in any way comparable to Hillary Clinton--a gal's a gal--their bigotry leads them to believe the Steele=Obama.

Cut and dried, they are bigots. And Steele is a giant tool. Just like Palin was.

7. Being liars, thieves, and cynics, Republicans assume everyone is. E.g., Steele= "A-A Man".

11. Unfortunately guys, the folks that have
simply bent over and accepted the us vs. them, good vs. bad, black & white messages of right wing politics for a generation won't even get far enough into the argument to care about any of the nuance that would help them see the light.

I hope you are right... but if we don't simplify our messages so they make sense for the masses, I fear we'll take it up the ass again in 2010 or 2012.

14. I cannot wait to see how this week plays out...
.... my prediction is by this time next week, after the President has done his thing with the American People, the Repubs (or at least enough of them to matter) will be singing a different tune.

Remember this?

Barack is about to tap into HIS base .... not Republican voters .... not Democratic voters .... but the people .... who are desperate to see SOMETHING get done .... and who could care less about one side winning over the other.

19. Well, they've forgotten that it's about ALL of the people...
.... their problem is that they are only concerned about THEIR districts .... which makes sense as they dont get elected in national elections .... but there has to be a point when greed and lust for power goes away and common decency takes over.

Or not .... let them screw the pooch. If we can get more Dems in the house because the GOP didn't handle this correctly, more power to them.

16. The GOP has been teetering on the rim or treason for a long time...
the "justification" is "saving democracy", the actual target of their "thought process" is democracy.

The current R party is so far from what it was began as, that even today's R's rarely if ever use the phrase..."the party of Lincoln", (that has morphed into the "party of Reagan").

The levels of the R's are pretty stable:

Ultra-wealthy: Purpose, form legislation that enhances their wealth.

Barkers: Purpose, draw the base together over essentially non-issues.

Religious Zealots: Purpose, use faith to create a theocracy.

Footsoldiers: (The real problem), Purpose: abstain from thought; garner seats on local Boards; reinforce the ideology on a local level, ensuring that people remain afraid, unaware and ignorant. These people are the ones who truly manage the carnage on the community level. They threaten, demand obedience and make those who question them fear for their very existence. This is an amoral group that would watch the entire nation fall apart, just to sit back and revel in the carnage. They are everywhere, coercing those who would actually move forward into a position where they really have to move backward. Their goal is to be "in charge", but the powers that be in the GOP would never relinquish any real power to them, so their "goal" is actually a dream for them, and a nightmare for the nation.

There is a ray of light though...the GOP took a massive drubbing in 2008, and will most likely lose more seats in 2010 if any of the D plans create any release from the pressure that is now on the American populace.

GOP will dissolve further as they grope for the right combo of getting back on track

It has never occured to them that they had the op to do good but blew it big time...

and now as they teeter toward the abyss of extinction they ponder their future..too freaking late...best they can do is dissolve and go away...nuff damage caused by them

21. If we do this right, they will go the way of the Whigs...
As I type, they are like screech monkeys in the trees, squealing about a, "lack of bipartisanship". But they wrote those rules under Gingrich & an R controlled Congress...it got a LOT worse when bush got into office. D's were literally locked out of meetings; shouted down in both Houses; called "traitors" and many other horrid things.

Now, when the D's reach out, the R's hand back a grenade w/the pin pulled and the spoon flying. There is no redemption for these bags of flesh filled w/dog warm dog feces. To be sure, there are some sensible R's out there, and hopefully, we'll hear from them, but the bellowing baboons of the GOP are getting 99% of the press, the rational R's are being kept silent.

President Obama, (that sounds so good!), was correct when he stated, "we won". The R's may someday realize they were the authors of the disaster we sitting in...but I doubt they'll ever admit it.
