If they did, it would not be pretty.

2. my Rep does...
but not my Senator. Kerry has more important things to do though... as the new head of an important committee.

:)

John Olver is my congresscritter btw, he's even been to my house!

He kinda sucks even though he's a Dem though...

3. Not true. Sen. Kerry did 2 open town halls in Dec
One in Cambridge and one in Fitchburg. Anyone could come and ask whatever questions they wanted. Video was on the johnkerry.com website of people asking Kerry whatever was on their minds.

4. My congressman has done some, but...
I've never seen a Senator out here.

(I've never seen a Senator in their local offices, either)

7. Rep. Cleaver (MO-5) had a meet and greet at a local coffee shop
a few months back. I didn't make it, but I didn't see any news reports about it getting ugly. The guy is pretty well respected in his district.

8. Congressman Braley had 2 near me last week.
There were 750 people total at them. He also has Congress on the Corner, where he goes to most of the smaller towns and talks to people one on one. You go in and get a number and wait your turn to go talk to him. He's fantastic!

I saw Grassley once at a town hall a few years ago.

I have never had the privilege of meeting Senator Harkin in person.

9. What do you mean by open?
Are there closed town hall meetings? How could that be?

Which do you prefer - the types of town hall meetings where the congress person stands in front of a crowd and takes questions, or the type where people take a number and talk to the congress person one on one? Could the latter actually be considered a town hall meeting?

I did see Lautenberg at a county Democratic event speaking in support of Menendez, who was running then. He was very willing to speak to anyone there.

16. Senator Wyden of Oregon does .....
They are open to anyone and questions are asked by the people and the Senator actually talks to them.
I've been to several. Locations are chosen so that everyone is resonably close to a townhall.
