PUKE ALERT: Monica (Crowley?) sez Obama is not optimistic like Reagan.
:puke:

I tuned in to an AM radio talk show this afternoon and (unfortunately) caught a few minutes of Monica (Crowley's?) radio show and she was unfavorably contrasting Obama with Reagan in terms of his apparent lack of optimism/concern about the state of the economy.

I can't remember verbatim what she said but she believes that Reagan's "sunny optimism" about the country (despite the state thereof when he took office)-as well as his push for tax cuts- helped buoy the country and help us succeed whereas she is concerned that Obama is running spouting nothing but gloom and doom about our economy.

Needless to say I had to turn it off after only a couple of minutes but I was further astonished by how shrill and, frankly, PETTY the criticism of Obama is getting from the Repukes and the Corporate *Republi-Whore* Media.

In the last few days, we've been treated to stories critical of:

1.) President Obama doesn't have a jacket glued to him every second of every day.

2.) President Obama's prime-time speeches/appearances threaten our precious prime-time television programming (and, of course, the advertisers)

3.)The "perks" that Obama (and every other President) *enjoys* as POTUS.

4.) President Obama should be glued behind the desk and shouldn't be out there meeting with/listening to people.

:wtf: is going on and WHO is wasting their time coming up with these "stories" and "poutrages"?????!!!!

:argh: :banghead:

6. How in the world did such a crazy obsessive "mythology" get built around RR?
Although right now he *may* not rate quite as badly as "W" as POTUS I just have never quite understand the unadorned "hero worship" of this guy by some people. I just don't get it.

11. Remember this was a man who understood Hollywood hype and
he came on the scene at the same time the TV evangelists were at their height. I also think that the hype about how bad government was started long before he ran setting the stage for him and people thought he had the answers - the media loved the hype and from then until Katrina most people never bothered to question any of it.

8. Sure, and to prove it Reagan's first display of optimism was to fire 30,000 air traffic controllers
Edited on Sun Feb-08-09 10:23 PM by bridgit
Aside from reading the scripts he was handed by the money/power elite; at his level Reagan's understanding of the economy was simple-minded by design which was fine by him: give all the money to already wealthy corporatist' and they will make he and Mommy's life very, very easy & cushy problem solved

Though if you really wanna puke, picture Crowley at the camera's RW-hand filming both she and John McLaughlin as he fawns over her like the snippy/pissy smirking little red-white & blue blooded daughter I presume he never had :puke:

10. I wonder what Monica thought about how "optimistic" Bush was
Edited on Sun Feb-08-09 10:39 PM by Proud Liberal Dem
when he was running around the country warning us of our imminent annihilation 24-7-365 by either OBL, SH, and/or other unnamed and unknown "terrorists" or- more recently- about the degenerating state of the economy (which weren't much different than what Obama is out there telling us right now)?

The double standard that Crowly and the corporate media "Republi-whores" hold us Democrats to is astounding. They are all utterly shameless.

:grr:

14. The RW has come apart at the seams...
the "aura" of the Reagan years is finally being seen in realistic terms.

The guy was a product of fantasy, nothing more than a prop, and a second rate prop at that. From his early days in Hollywood, he knew nothing other than what he was told to do, none of it real, all of it fantasy. During WWII, he was a Captain in the US Army Signal Corps, made several training films, mostly about STD's, (VD as it was known back then), and some pretty terrible war propaganda films. He was portrayed as a war hero, (much like John Wayne), but never went far out of Hollywood during the war, (much like John Wayne, although Wayne remained a civilian).

A series of B Grade movies followed the war, (being upstaged by a chimp must be new low), but was likable and amiable on the Silver Screen. Reality is, he was a scoundrel. He divorced his 1st wife to marry Nancy, gave up on anything that was considered compassionate, and proceeded to destroy CA w/changes that still reverberate there. On to the WH! Where he laid the groundwork for collapse of the economy, deregulation, an arms war, spending out of control, offshore companies sprouting up, the selling off of Federal Land and the raiding of the Treasury...(among other things).

Reagan was a seriously faulted president and human being. He cared nothing of the country's future, only what he and his cronies could grab as they had power. They played to a false sense of "patriotism", and many in the nation followed the pipers.

The early stages of Alzheimer's became apparent...but were glossed over. The "most powerful man in the world", suffering from a serious medical condition, one that affects the thought processes, led the nation into a Dark Age...one that will be w/us for a little longer.

An aside, bush nearly completed what Reagan started...the irresponsible destruction of a great nation.

Obama and his team have serious work ahead of them. It will take monumental strength to turn things around, but I think they can do it.
