FAIL: MSM's attempt to empower the whining Repubs, who are still in a desperate position
Edited on Sun Feb-08-09 10:43 PM by ProSense
The Republicans only option is to try to hinder Obama's success.

Read this: $1.3 trillion later, economic disaster; supporters of Bush's tax cuts call the stimulus "too big."

Now, what are the chances that the Dems' stimulus package will equal Bush's tax cuts and other idiotic Repub policies in nearly doubling the unemployment rate, increasing the number of people living in poverty by five million, tripling the the foreclosure rates and increasing the number of people relying on food stamps by 13 million?

Bush and his tax cuts were miserable failures, and the Repubs own the resulting economic disaster. Under Bush, the economy effectively bottomed out, and while it will likely get worse (see Friday's abysmal jobs report) before it gets better, things will begin to turn around. Repubs dread the notion that this will happen during Obama's Presidency.

4. Really?
Rather than offer new, workable ideas to find a bipartisan solution, Republican critics continue to spread misleading information about the Economic Recovery plan offering instead only the same failed policies that led to this recession. Despite these partisan attacks, a new Gallup poll shows support for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has remained steady.

7. CBS Poll shows they want a Stimulus Package.
But the argument for Tax Cuts vs. Spending is winning. The picking on small parts of the package has stuck.

9. CBS can shove its Poll
Polls

Sure they're a couple of weeks old, but they're completely opposite of CBS' results.

5. Bullshit! The polls are fixed by many factors, not the least of which is question phrasing.
The M$M polls are BUNK. The public is beginning to wake up to that fact also.

10. Sorry
I disagree. Look at all the shit the American people could have eaten up before November 8th.........they didn't. The American people deserve credit right now. Finally, we've woken up to see the bullshit MSM and the Republicans for what they are......a lying party and an enabling group who pushes their lies.

13. It's one poll, and why is it
Edited on Sun Feb-08-09 11:09 PM by ProSense
so vastly different from these polls?

Not even the entire Repub caucus in tears being supported by the MSM could cause a 30-point swing.

14. So
you choose to ignore other polls and just concentrate on the one from CBS? Why? Are they the end all be all?

Hell, if we listened to CBS during the general election, Barack Obama would have only won by a slim margin.

Sorry, those folks being turned off by this stimulus bill right now are being turned off because of all the changes Republicans have made. You can fall for the gruff from the right wing and their talking points but take a look at when some folks started changing their tune about the package. It coincided with the Republicans getting things taken out that they wanted out.

I look at all polls and get the average. CBS falls below the average of all the other polls I've seen so I'll just chalk it up to typical CBS polling.

15. I doubt the media and rushpublicans have reached people other
than the ones that haven't already swallowed the lies hook, line, and sinker from the git-go.

But if that's what you want to believe, hey, it's still a free country. Me? I won't use a single CBS poll result and then call it the "media". It's ONE medium.

2. Given the mess that Bush made - it is crazy that they seem to think they
can convince people that the problem is the fault of the Democrats.

16. The polls actually reflect that the public wants the Stimulus Package
but not one with frivolous spending for no reason. There is still no confidence in the Rethugs.
