What a difference a poll makes.
So Gallup releases a poll stating that 67% of Americans agree with Obama's handling of the stimulus plan, while 58% of Americans DISAGREE with the GOP's obstruction in Congress.

Now we all remember how much the MSM has been cozying up to the GOP in the past few weeks; giving them crazily disproportionate air time, highlighting the GOP's gripes about negligible portions of the bill, making up poll numbers about Obama's approval ratings, etc.

But ever since Gallup released that poll showing that Americans aren't buying the GOP's and the MSM's bullshit, wow, what a change!

:eyes:

Finally, on a different topic, today's super-silver lining: Think about those 65%+ approval ratings Obama's getting and what that means for racism in this country.

2. Ignoring human decency, they have nothing to gain by voting for it.
If it succeeds, Obama and the Dems get all the credit no matter what.

8. They are screwed no matter how they vote.
If the vote for it, Obama (and the Dems) still get the credit -- they are the majority and they "worked across the aisle" with the Republicans who are the minority.
If they vote against it, and there is even a modest benefit (there will be more than that) -- they are even more screwed as Dems have promised to make it an issue in the 2010 midterms.

12. I think there's a very small chance of that.
Any amount of improvement is going to be seen as a win for Obama and the Democrats -- even more so if there is a lot of improvement.

3. I almost hope they do.
It could very well be the end of them.

They're banking on the stimulus failing, and the majority of Americans not feeling any positive effects from it. But with a bill so large, there is likely something in it to benefit just about everyone. The key will be to continually remind Americans what they're getting from it. For example, those tax and interest breaks you got when you bought your new car came from the stimulus. And that tax break you got from buying a new home? Stimulus too! That public works project going on in your town? It has a sign saying it was funded by the stimulus! And so on and so forth...

9. The nonpartisan, patriotic part of me really wants the entire country to rally together on this.
The partisan part of me is loving the possibility of the GOP royally fucking themselves for generations and, quite possibly, forever.

13. This is precisely why we didn't go "opposition party" from 2000-2008.
It doesn't work, not one bit.

14. Fortunately for us, the GOP simply cannot help themselves.
They will reveal their inherent pettiness and incompetence every time.
