5. Prof. Turley said a Truth Commission is code for "white-wash."

7. I'm embracing the baby steps myself; if lots of truth comes out of
a commission, more action will need to be taken. That's what I'm banking on.

9. I think it will be useful for the sheer purpose of educating the country.
I've noticed the wingnuts have stepped up the "we didn't torture" mantra, going as far as describing Guantanamo as a 4-star hotel. That BS needs to be knocked down hard.

18. I don't need to be educated. I already know we tortured. I want prosecutions. n/t

19. not talking about the informed, I'm talking about those bamboozled by their lies
I think it's important to set the record straight once and for all.

And my point was and always will be that these war crimes MUST be prosecuted, and on that point we are in agreement.

20. agreed, however the problem is when they have these "Truth Commissions", there usually is immunity
offered to get people to talk, and there you go... no prosecutions.

13. Depends on who is on it, but yes, that seems to follow history...
The Warren Commission. The Church Commission. Was there a Commission for Iran-Contra? The 9/11 Commission.

I'm not liking the odds.

15. Turley said to watch for it.
And I agree history dictates that we be apprehensive about a satisfactory outcome. :(

21. Yes, but the bad guys did send Leahy Anthrax in a letter. I think he still has a chip
on his shoulder from that. I know I would, not to mention the last 8 years of dancing on The Constitution. I think they messed with the wrong Vermonter. Good luck Pat, I'll be rooting for you to do some damage.

Remember he was a recipient of anthrax. I don't think he will allow a whitewash.
