5. There should seriously be a "Hero Worship" topic forum.
For all of the "OMG ___________ (Krugman/KO/Rachel/Malloy) ROCKS!!!!11!!!11" posts to be moved to.

I think it's great to have liberal icons, but posts about them seldom encourage real "discussion".

8. Basically. Have you ever tried to imagine Krugman in Washington trying to accomplish REAL politics?
Every scenario I try to imagine ends with Krugman on the floor throwing a red-faced all out temper tantrum.

He's useful as a critic and watchdog, but not as a real producer of policy.

It appears you are the one drinking the kool-aid.

6. This discussion is getting sterile. We need to get this country moving and the favorite

topic of some anonymous DUers is whether a brilliant economist is bad because he happens not to worship the path our brilliant president follows.

Get over it. People will disagree. They will see the situation from different angles. And guess what, both may be right. Amazingly, Obama does understand that, but some of his supporters here are so overzealous that they are missing the point. Sad.

In passing, I guess he was also an idiot when he was criticizing Bush and people here were worshiping him as well

Finding the discussion too sterile, Mass decides to take a huge unsterilized dump in the middle of it.

16. Listen, I have disagreed with him a lot concerning mandates. I disagree less on this topic.
Edited on Mon Feb-09-09 02:29 PM by Mass
because it has been a longtime frustration for me to see Dems in general start negotiating with a starting point that is too low and therefore having to compromise too much. I am not ready to judge Obama before I see the end result, but it seems to me the starting point was too low, and Krugman is not the only one saying so. Most other progressive economists say the same thing. Krugman may be more agressive saying it, which is a reason I stopped reading his columns a few years ago. I guess I should not have dropped in this topic, but it starts bothering me when I see people I respect go overboard on that.

18. It'll die down, but PK basically treats Obama like a failed President in his op-ed today
which is outrageous to some of us, especially since his analysis willfully ignores the realities of the U.S. Senate in our time. Hence the pissing party.

11. Sterile, is right and might I add stupid and stale to that....
Last night I saw Krugman interviewed on ABC News. Basically, he was going head to head against George Will.

He squarely, soundly and repeatedly placed the blame for this mess on Shrub and the GOP policies.

Why are some so eager to hate him on DU, I don't get it??????

We're all on the same side and yet the in-fighting never ceases.

Shouldn't we be using our time, energy and resources to go after the Republicans and their politics of distruction, rather than trying to rip to shreds someone who more or less agrees with us?????

25. According to some DUers, he's somehow an unrealistic ultra-lefty moonbat
and a bloodthirsty neoliberal anti-labor hack. Sure wish the "my Obama right or wrong" crowd would at least get a set of talking points that didn't blatantly contradict each other...
