1. Oh snap! 58% disapprove of the GOP in Congress.
That obstructionism is working out real well for them.

3. Look like the American public hate the GOP. They are barely
more popular than Bush!

Gallup just made my day!

6. Funny, since the GOP is dictating how the bill will be structured
So...bipartisanship means doing what the opposition party wants and what a majority of Americans oppose? Weird.

8. But they've got that Bushbot vote!
Pandering to the far right worked out great for them in 2008. Glad to see they're continuing with that line of thought.

9. Yo Gallup? Got your answer yet or will you keep running polls until you get the answer you want?
I guess 1.5-2 million people present during the inauguration wasn't enough confirmation for you.

sheesh on a skiddle.

10. Those are great numbers, especially since
Gallup traditionally leans right. These are also incredible numbers in that they were taken on Friday and Saturday after a whole week of virtually uncontested bullshit from GOP talking heads. If this is the best they can do with that decided media advantage, they've got problems.

12. Yup, DESPITE Their Stream Of Bullshit That Got Wall To Wall Coverage
With very little fact checking, they've gotten pretty much nowhere. They ruled the news over the last week, outnumbering Dems 2 to 1 on all the shows and got practically uncritical coverage of their bullshit and lies and STILL made no progress.

11. I'll say it again: This is why we didn't do the whole "opposition party" thing from 2000-2008.
Hate to say I told you so (okay, that's a lie), but when everyone here was screaming for Democrats to obstruct and filibuster, I told everyone it was piss poor politics because the American people won't stand for it.

This is why we "kept the powder dry."

This is why we won in 2006 and 2008.

This is why we'll continue to win in 2010, 2012, 2016, and so on until Republicans learn that you simply cannot just stand in the way of doing the people's business and hope to be trusted with power.

13. Yeah, I know the impatience of many and the rage
doesn't want to believe it, but there is a lot of truth to what you said.

I do think there could have been a time and an issue to filibuster over and retain the support of the people (which is what I think the GOP thought they had a shot at here), but from 2002 to 2006 there wasn't an issue that met all the criteria--that could get enough support to pull it off. If the democrats had the balls to question the intel out of Iraq and then the wherewithal to prove it, that could have been one. Unfortunately, they read that the 9/11 mood of the country, fueled by the Bush-Cheney "keep America scared" campaign, was too risky.
