1. Agree. Helen Thomas deserves far better than she got under the
Bush administration.

Obama's acknowledgement was restorative, presidential, and grown-up.

4. Yes. Helen Thomas didn't play ball with the Bushies and so they
treated her dismissively, the way ornery boys in the classroom diss a substitute teacher.

But of course Helen wins that match, long-term. She was faithful to the attendant duties of her job while the Bush boys botched theirs outright.

5. Even Raygun treated Helen Thomas with great respect
Bush's need to be surrounded by a constant echo chamber has to be some kind of personality disorder or something.

7. Hi, Hippo_Tron. Yes. I agree. It was a bit of old-boy arrogance thrown
in with some right-now misogynist arrogance, and it was dissmisve and rude.

Thomas stands pretty tall in that room when she is shown the respect she has earned, and Bush sure has shrunk by comparison.

11. It's true. Helen endures while Dubya falls into alcoholic obscurity.
Dubya rises each day to the universal conclusion by almost everyone on earth that he is a failure.

12. That was a grand moment, one I've been awaiting for a long time...
:hi: Opihi!

President Obama joshed Helen Thomas a bit, she bit back with a sharp question, and the balance was restored. She still looks very frail, so I am doubly glad she has lived to see this day.

17. But I'm betting Obama wishes she had stayed in the back row
The look on his face as he ran away from her question was hilarious. She asked a tough question. He didn't really answer it. And then he shouted over her as she tried to get him to answer it, pretending she didn't exist.

Go Helen!

The next time we have a presidential "debate," we should let Helen ask all the questions. I'll bet she could make people cry.
