the other day I was listening to the radio and the announcer said the president signed the SCHIP the State Children's Health Insurance Program legislation into law. I thought "Bush must have changed his mind....oh wait...

It does give you a warm feeling when you know that Obama is now president.

Before, during the "bad times", when Bush gave one of his rare press conferences from this hallway, I was always transfixed by the visage of Abraham Lincoln behind him. I kept thinking of the shame he brought to the presidency and how poor old Abe was forced to sit there silently while he lied to America.

Now, I like to imagine that Mr. Lincoln wears a slight smile because dignity and reason have returned to the White House.

Shooting from just in front of and below the podium makes it loom large in the foreground. Obama's head is small in comparison. The effect conveys the impression that he's not big enough for the job -- an impression already shown to be false.

My favorite is the fourth. While granting the thrill of seeing him stroll the White House in the first two, they can't match seeing him behind a podium (in proper proportion) with the Presidential seal on it.
