Krugman: BARF!
Acronyms

I was going to dub the new financial plan TANF 2 — temporary assistance to needy financial institutions, without, you know, any of the means-testing or work requirements involved when poor people get help.

But Jamie Galbraith (private communication) has trumped me; he says it’s the Bad Assets Relief Fund.

3. I'm suffering from Krugman burnout
Edited on Tue Feb-10-09 12:22 PM by high density
I liked it when he just wrote one column a week or something like that. Krugman blogging with every item on his mind (which a parrot then sees and posts here on DU) is quite tedious. He sucks as a politician and he's even worse as a comedian.

he will ankle nip himself into irrelevancy if he keeps this up.

If he wants to really help he should have made himself available for the new admin. But I guess he prefers being on the sidelines shooting arrows.

24. "BARF" has nothing to do with him being an economist.

25. so what?
I'm sick of everyone talking about krugman's nobel prize. so what? he's smart. doesn't mean he's always right. the devil-spawn milton friedman also won the nobel prize in economics. now we all know how having everyone listen to him turned out... the rise of global neoliberalism, the demise of developmentalist economics, the birth of the economic shock therapy, and the logical conclusion: global financial crisis.

17. Krugman has a history of being right.
I have listened closely to him these many years and have respected what he has to say. I would never throw him over now just because he's critical of something Obama is proposing.

Obama winning the election didn't turn me stoopid. :)

18. Why isn't Krugman sharing this with the Administration
He was asked if he talks with the Administration and if he would consider a position(even as an unofficial adviser) and he said he doesn't want it.

I do believe he is a right economist but he seems to be spending a lot of time of sitting on the sidelines and criticizing. With such a mind as his why is he not advising the President?

It's not about throwing him over just because he is critical of Obama. This is not new. He was wery critical of Obama's health care proposal.

19. He has
said that he's "in contact" with the administration, though I'm kind of confused about it too. I know that he was invited to a meeting with Obama (the one that Maddow was at) and did not attend. I don't know if he didn't go because he had a conflict or if he just didn't want to go. I was disappointed that he did not want a position with the administration, though he's probably good where he is.

22. Perhaps he prefers to stay 100% out of the...
the political process to retain his neutrality. If he were to even informally advise Obama, that could appear partisan. With his public criticism, Krugman is indeed "advising" Obama, should Obama choose to take the advice.

23. He's definately not neutral, which is good
Everyone knows his politics. It's not really advising by crtiquing every thing he does. He smart enough to realize that he could be more effective if he chose a different route.

People who he needs to reach may turn a deaf ear to his critiques. I turned him off during the primaries when he was so critical of Obama's healthcare proposal. Krugman supported Hillary and there wasn't much difference in their proposals.

13. We get it.
Krugman is a little man who knows nothing about politics, unlike those who grace DU.

Enough already.

20. I'm not sure everyone does :-) Bad Assets Relief Fund= BARF
Seems Krugman has company in the liberal gallows humor department.
Galbraith has also criticized the stimulus package, along with Krugman and others.
