Sarah Palin Movie: Hollywood Screenwriters Interested

Two prominent screenwriters are game to turn Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's rise to fame in a movie. "I'm always down for politics as humor. I'm also interested in great characters," Dustin Lance Black told Variety.

His competition, Thomas McCarthy, would focus on Bristol Palin's future husband, Levi Johnston. "This young man gets his girlfriend pregnant and ends up on the Republican platform at the National Convention," McCarthy said. "This 17-year-old kid from Alaska standing on the stage -- there's a dark comedy in there somewhere. He was like a deer in headlights."

Black countered that the two could be combined. "Levi Johnston would be the B story," he said. "It would be like dueling narratives."

Both writers were nominated for Writer's Guild of America awards in 2009 -- Black for "Milk," McCarthy for "The Visitor."

1. Larry Flynt beat them both to it
I understand his Palin film, although it features a satire of Bill O'Reilly, is definitely NOT family-friendly.

2. People here in Anchorage are shocked she's still talked about so much...
.
.

I've met her a few times myself (at hockey functions) and I don't get the fascination myself either..

10. Palin..

.
.

Pre-McCain she was extremely friendly to the point of being annoying. I sat with her during an Alaska Aces hockey game and she talked my ears off.

The Sarah Palin that existed pre-McCain doesn't exist any longer. Ask any Alaska resident on here.

She used to be so bipartisan that Democrats actually respected her. She used to phone into progressive talk to chat with the DJ's or to take calls from the listeners.

Pre-McCain she was actually pro-Obama to the point of sounding giddy when she talked about him.

The campaign effectively molded her personality into something that no one in Alaska recognizes to this day.

The media is fascinated with a figment of their own imagination..

Palin enjoys the attention though. So much that she's trying to conform to that person they think she is.

I'd bet anything that she'd bag Alaska in a heartbeat for a gig with Fixed News, a movie deal, or any chance to be in the limelight..

But I'm not so sure her husband would make it outside of Alaska for very long.. ...If she never leaves, it will be because of him.

The national media (and to some degree even our local media) aren't focusing much on all the problems she's having in her job as governor right now..

But I can guarantee you.. it's only people who DON'T live in Alaska that ever bring up all this "2012" crap..

TGH.... (Taint Gonna Happen)

13. You are so right.
She's like two different people. I knew it was all over the night of the RNC convention.

7. I met her, too, in 2006.
She seemed fairly normal then, but I think she was just showing me her good side.

What do you think about the Talis Colberg thing? Did you read about the agreement that Sarah allegedly made with Chenault and Stevens? I posted some links in the Alaska forum. I think she might actually get herself in trouble this time. Here's hoping.

14. Andrew hasn't connected the dots, as yet.
He has a post about the AG leaving and he has a post about Stevens' letter, but he doesn't have anything about the "deal."
