Claire McCaskill is a class act, she voted against Obama's DOD deputy secretary/corporate lobbyist

She voted "no" on William J. Lynn III, Obama's choice for deputy secretary of the Defense Department, who is a former lobbyist for defense contractor Raytheon. Obama had waived lobbying rules for his appointment.

On Jan 24th I asked her to vote against the appointment: "Close the revolving door. I did not go door to door for nominal change. Obama has done wonderfully so far but this one should sink like a rock."

At the time she had made suggestions that she would support him. She was the only Democrat to vote against him.

As others said, I'm not crazy about every single one of her votes (though, there are few left who usually vote the way I want ALL of the time, heh), but she was one of the surrogates who I felt put herself out there for Obama in the general, when other surrogates seemed to be in hiding.

I walked wards for her in 2004 when she ran for governor - I still have my yellow Claire baseball cap. It was a horrible thing when she lost that race, because Baby Blunt drove Missouri into a ditch.

Now, though, I'm glad things turned out the way they did. She's been a terrific Senator, and her experience as a State Auditor is giving her the chops to go after the war profiteers.
