Please Tell the NY Observer What YOU Think of Joe and Mika.

http://www.observer.com/2009/media/you-ve-got-mika

Looks like they're trying to drum up listeners and viewers for the TV and radio show. The article is fairly complimentary, but the four pages of reader comments are not. I think we could easily double the number of viewer comments about these two, couldn't we? There is no sign-up or registration needed to post a response to the article.

Most likely, the networks WILL be paying attention.

(Excerpt)

In real life, Mr. Scarborough lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife, Susan, and Ms. Brzezinski lives in New York with her husband, James. But every day, five days a week, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on MSNBC and from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on WABC, Mr. Scarborough and Ms. Brzezinski are locked together in that time-honored New York tradition: media matrimony. ’Til contract renegotiation do them part.

The radio show is the latest element of the Joe and Mika franchise, bringing this Burns-and-Allen-Goes-to-Dartmouth routine to the unlikely masses who like to get their political news from radio screamers.

2. DONE. Here's mine
Really? These people are horrible to watch. I believe your article got more comments than they have viewers on a typical morning.

I tuned in a few times to Joe's previous show. BAD MISTAKE. He's just as grumpy, wrong, and devious in this go round but he's got a mean spirited, flip-flopping ditzy side kick and a bunch of other hacks that I guess would be unemployed if they weren't sitting around making crap up and pulling opinions out of their butts.

Morning Joe is to Incisive media commentary on current events as Chris Brown is to polite dates.

I hate in all of these profiles, how Mika is described as a left leaning or liberal. I sure don't see it.

6. Did you watch Mika the morning after Obama's primetime presser?
She was hilarious. She basically had her evil-eye trained on joe as he made up shit while in his 'save the gop' mode. Joe was saying that President Obama is like bush. Mika and Willie gave incredulous looks into the monitor as joe tried to push that bullshit. I was laughing out loud.

11. Sorry, I don't get into that "abused family" skit of those surrounding Joe Scarborough
Edited on Thu Feb-12-09 09:28 AM by ShortnFiery
Especially the act of "staring into the camera lens" while Joe goes on a tear is not only GUTLESS but SAD and PATHETIC. Is nobody willing to stand up to this patriarch bully boy? It's vile commentary as to what us "little people" are expected to tolerate for morning political commentary.

I've been OFF the Mourning Ho-Jo rolls of viewers for two months ... and will continue since *the suits* don't give a shit what the non-investor classes think.

8. The article was pretty interesting
It was surprising to learn that Brzezinski is considered to be "center-left." I've never listened to these guys' radio show, but from the half-dozen or so times I've watched "Morning Joe," I was under the impression that she was just a slightly less conservative (and less forceful) version of Scarborough.

9. Done...
I wrote:

"These two halfwits would be better suited as co-hosts reporting high school girls hockey sports scores than attempt to try to act like they even have a clue of what they are talking about.

Mika has to take hits of vodka to sit next to a guy who never has explained why an intern died in his office when he was a congressman stooge for the Deregulators.

They are as entertaining to watch as seeing a webcam recording in a short bus on the way to Retard School."

OK, it was meant to be a joke... :hi:

10. this is what I wrote
Edited on Thu Feb-12-09 09:44 AM by ErinBerin84
"I used to watch this show, but I had to stop. The dynamic was just too creepy. I have seen Mika change her opinion in the matter of seconds when Joe disagrees with her (though, after a while, Mika just stopped disagreeing with Joe for the most part), she was so spineless and stood for nothing. The only thing I have seen her be consistent on is wanting a soda tax and defending Sarah Palin. And the ambien and vodka jokes are stupid, not cute. So many times when a guest disagrees with Joe (I have seen this happen with John Harwood, Chrystia Freeland, Jonathan Capehart, Rachel Maddow-when Joe was on Race for the White House-the list goes on), he changes the subject and starts to bully them in really personal and rude ways that have nothing to do with the subject at hand. "

edit: Damn it. I forgot to mention the Scarborough/Shuster fight in my comment, when Shuster asked Scarborough why he never asked McCain surrogates a particular question on Iraq, and Joe started screeching that he is THE only independent thinking person at MSNBC and that Shuster sleeps in all of the time and he was going to tell the boss on him, etc. Someone feel free to reference that one in their comment.

13. Here is what I said and did you see MSNBC has renewed M Joe until 2011!
Edited on Thu Feb-12-09 09:57 AM by 1776Forever
These two dolts were meant for each other, only not on TV or Radio! Their comments are lame brained and ignorant of the true facts. Joe is driven by his "conservative" bull dog views that make him seem trite and Mika is driven by her pocketbook it seems lately. She knows where the $$$ comes from and nothing is going to change that! I never listen to these two any more and suggest MSNBC get the message and take them both OFF the air! I will bet one of their biggest fans is Rush Limbaugh!

........

I guess MSNBC doesn't give a crap what the viewers think - take a look:

Joe Scarborough Extends Contract with MSNBC
by Felix Gillette | 8:31 AM June 5, 2008

MSNBC has ordered a second helping of Morning Joe.

The New York Times reports this morning that Joe Scarborough has extended his contract with MSNBC until March 2011. Last summer, after a successful tryout, Mr. Scarborough took over Don Imus' old morning slot on MSNBC, beating out the likes of David Gregory along the way.

From the Times story:

While it would be premature to declare Mr. Scarborough's show, "Morning Joe," an unqualified success—it still lags its competition on Fox News Channel and CNN—the show drew an estimated 360,000 viewers each morning during the recently concluded May sweeps rating period, which is about what "Imus in the Morning" was attracting in the weeks before its host's firing.

More important, perhaps, the three hours of hard-core political chat (often laced with humor) that Mr. Scarborough and his co-hosts, Mika Brzezinski and Willie Geist, put on each day is unlike anything else on morning television. Little wonder that every major presidential candidate has made at least one stop at Mr. Scarborough's desk since fall - including Hillary Rodham Clinton, whose husband Mr. Scarborough voted to impeach - and that throughout the broadcast Mr. Scarborough's Blackberry continuously vibrates with e-mail messages from the candidates' surrogates. Many of the messages are seeking corrections, or rebuttals, and most are immediately read aloud on the air.

14. I'm having severe issues...
Edited on Thu Feb-12-09 10:01 AM by CoffeeCat
...because I can't even comprehend how these two could pull of a radio program.

I used to watch "Morning Joe" every day. I Tivo'd it.

Then, something happened to Mika. She basically morphed into a mouse that says nothing, while Joe foams
at the mouth and spews hate. It would be one thing--to have a radio program, where there was some exchange
and debate.

However, the last I saw--Mika seemed like she was in some kind of "I'm a good, little girl and I won't interrupt
the big man" mode.

I actually felt disgusted watching her. It was like watching a timid child interact with a dysfunctional, abusive
father. She sat there in her tight sweaters, nodding occasionally and randomly throwing out some "Uh huhs" or
maybe an "Oh really, Joe?" when she was feeling especially feisty and brave.

I don't get it. Is this the same "Morning Joe" we're talking about here? On TV is was horrible, but how in the world
can they possibly make it work on radio--when all Mika does is NOTHING?

This comment is clearly by Joe Scarborough. ;)

Contempt for "bloggers", check. The "Why can't you just take a joke?", check. The funny thing is, my comment basically said that I had to stop watching BECAUSE once Joe ran out of compelling arguments, he started named calling th guests and being rude to them.

"Contemplating why you uncivil, left-wing-nut posters and bitching bloggers deride and decry 'Morning Joe' -- two reasons come to mind. One, you lack a functional sense of humor, clearly a genetic defect common to many libs, and Second, possessing only limited ability to actually think for yourselves, you so-called 'progressives' are running low on Obama-flavored Koolaid and desperately need an another injection to be able to parrot the official party talking points.

The thing about liberals is, when they run out of compelling arguments, which usually happens sooner than later, they predictably resort to name-calling which reveals them for the immature wankers they are."

23. I commented about the integrity of the entire show as well as MSNBC. I asked about Lori since
none of the MJ team seems to think it's important. Also since none of them (Mika, Joe, MSNBC) seem to think there's a problem with having this asshole stinking up the air(cable)waves.
