White House Statement on Gregg

“Senator Gregg reached out to the President and offered his name for Secretary of Commerce. He was very clear throughout the interviewing process that despite past disagreements about policies, he would support, embrace, and move forward with the President’s agenda. Once it became clear after his nomination that Senator Gregg was not going to be supporting some of President Obama’s key economic priorities, it became necessary for Senator Gregg and the Obama administration to part ways. We regret that he has had a change of heart”.

Good riddance.

Apparently, he’s unhappy with the stimulus bill

AND

that the Census Bureau control was taken back to the WH!!

YAY ... a spine!!!!

Good move on his part. I think he saw that Obambi was anything but “centrist” and wasn’t going to be the token Republican in a marxist white house.

WAY TO GO JUDD! Now let’s cut off the RNC funding to the 3 GOP Senate Traitors Specter, Collins, and Snowe. Fight this lurch towards communism!

Wow. I guess Gregg decided that he couldn't prostitute himself in this fashion.

He finally grew a backbone. I guess he couldn't take that slap in the face when they said that he couldn't be trusted with the Census.

Another defeat for Obama.

11. Hmmm, sounds like Gregg was fired BEFORE he quit....
and that's why Gregg did what he did, made it public and had a press conference, trying to save face. I call that a FAIL, Senator Gregg.

Frankly, I never understood why Obama wanted him. He certainly wasn't what I would consider to be a "moderate" or somebody that I would've thought would want to be part of a Democratic administration anyway. I wouldn't think any Democrat would ever want him for their administration either but I've been pretty willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt on his nominees. His reasons for withdrawing, specifically because of whatever disagreements he might have had with Obama over the Stimulus package seem curious, particularly given the fact that Obama and the Democrats have bent backwards (and forwards) to try and make the package more, how shall I say, "bipartisan". :eyes:
Oh well, Obama can do better than Gregg anyway.
