1. "Fuck 'em" is not a valid political argument. However, I think I have one.
1) The Repukes are bound and determined to see to it that the Recovery Bill fails.
2) Therefore, we cannot trust the disbursement of funds and projects from the bill to those who want to see Recovery Bill fail.

In other words, if we give the money and projects to the districts of those who want the bill to fail, they will try to find ways to MAKE it fail.

2. IMO, that's not the solution.
IMO, the better thing to do is make his constituents very aware of stimulus spending in his district.

8. I agree. Shockingly, Arizona voted for the stimulus package
Edited on Sat Feb-14-09 11:26 AM by Phx_Dem
5 to 3 including House, Senate. So our state should be just over half of what our share would have been if all them had voted for it. McCain, Kyle and Flake voted against it so their "share" should be forfeited.

Elected reps need to be responsible for their votes. I think this is a great way to hold them accountable.

13. What's funny is, without federal dollars Arizona would still be a barren desert....
What I mean by that is Federal Public works programs basically created Domestic Arizona.

21. Exactly, but Republicans don't let facts get in their way.
There's a letter to the editor in today's AZ Republic from a self-described "old coot" who says we've lost our respect for taking government money and we should do it the way we did "in his day." He probably thinks the Internet should be abolished since it didn't exist "back in the day." Whatever. Dumb old coot.

He does make a good argument for why we should have an maximum age limit for the President.

9. So an electorate that voted 60% for Obama
and 60% for some idiot repuke because the democratic party failed to run a decent campaign there deserves to be "starved"

Just curious.

24. Or 67% for Obama, voted in 2 Dem senators, but got stuck with an
idiot congressman that only 48% voted for even with Rove and company pumping in a gazillion dollars to smeared the Dem who was running his 1st campaign?

15. Well, in one sense, it's not. But on the other hand....
...those districts are probably full of constituents who vote for Repukes, against their own interests, because their right wing churches tell them to (using fear tactics about gay marriage, "baby killers" or whatever the stupid rhetoric of the week is)

Perhaps seeing the direct result of their repuke congress-critter's obstructionism will be enough to snap them out of their delusions, and vote the worthless bastards out in 2010?

17. But so far, they haven't been directly confronted with that reality.
If you can go to these morans and say "There are no jobs available in this district, and your kids schools will continue to fall apart because Congressman Numbnuts chose to obstruct the economic recovery bill which would have brought jobs and infrastructure funding to this district", don't you think that might register with them as a little more reality based than "stop the queers from killing babies!!111!!"

11. A completely ridiculous idea that will never happen.
American citizens should not be punished for the stupidity of their representatives, especially when a lot of those people didn't even vote for the asshole.

I think somebody said earlier that the stimulus spending in these districts should be made very well known so more people will vote against the Republican next time.

14. I totally agree - and I live in Az.
Let McCain and Kyl explain to the people of this state why we didn't deserve the funds.

Maybe then we can finally get rid of them.

18. I have no problem with their districts getting the funding ...
The constituents (especially the children) shouldn't be punished just because they're represented by a jerk.

But their constituents need to be constantly reminded of that vote against their interests and whenever the Member or Senator tries to take credit for the results of this funding, they need to have their vote shoved right back in their face.

19. The correct response is...
To tie that vote around their necks like an anchor and to then throw them an anvil by hammering away a t _______ voted to keep X amount of jobs out of our district.

Congressperson/Senator ______ is supposed to representing our district/state but voting against jobs in times like these isn't in our interests, with friends like ___________ we don't need any enemies.

20. So you think the stimulus will be more effective if we leave over a third of the country
out in the cold?

Or do you simply not care whether or not the package is effective?

In Oklahoma itself, 500 thousand people Voted for Barack Hussein Obama. Fuck 'em, right?

Their Tax dollars and their children's tax dollars will still get to pay back the stimulus, but they shouldn't get any of the benefit of the presidents plan to save our economy. Nope. Fuck them.
