I heard the most disgusting thing said by an elected official yesterday!
I listen to a right wing radio station on my way home from work. Its the Bill LeMay show. Anyway, Representative Virginia Foxx came on the show and said the following things:

1. That the democrats will not stop until they have taken away the rights of every single American citizen.

2. That in the stimulus bill, that the democrats want to literraly take money out of the pockets of working people and give it to lazy people with no ambition.

3. That the stimulus bill has provisions to give money to get criminals out of jail so they can go commit more crimes. (I researched this, and its so far out of context that it is close to a blatant lie.)

4. That they all needed to go back and read the book 1984 again because that is where we are headed as a society.

THIS is what makes me think that the Fairness Doctrine should come back. They get on those shows and LIE!!! I wish there was a recording of it so it could be used against her when she is up for reelection. I've heard alot of wild stuff, but how can an elected official get up there and say such things to people full well knowing it isn't true!!!!!

2. I know!!
I am on a parenting message board and we have a political forum. And ofcourse, they get their talking points straight from Rush and Fox. So, now its "they haven't even read the bill!" And I come back with...well, do you think they read the Patriot Act? And I never get a response to that.

They are all so clueless its SCARY to think that they were in control for so long. And I know in my heart it will be a long time before they are in power again.

3. All of the long-time Progressives and Liberals I know don't want "the Fairness Doctrine"
They want Sherman anti-Trust laws on the books to be enforced, to free the market.

5. I lived in Virginia Foxx's community in NC for many years
and the people in her home county despised her. She's a politician, not a representative. She's also a hack and a jerk.

BTW, welcome to DU traxster.

Remember the TN church shooting this past summer? Hate crime by a crazy person who listened to this kind of garbage and acted on it.

8. I just Googled her.
Check out her photo on Wikipedia--LOL! I think most Americans understand now that right-wing radio exists so stupid people can say idiotic things to large audiences of pinheads. It's like a vast echo-chamber of stupid, and it's part of the reason the Republicans are relegating themselves more and more to regional minority party status. How anyone with an IQ over 60 could listen to that without doing a quadruple spit-take is a mystery to me. Note, too, the Republican mania for projection: Bush listened to your phone calls and read your email, Bush knew what porn sites you visited and where you spent your money, but Obama's the guy who's threatening your rights? Seriously: these people are a king-size, extra-crispy bucket o' stupid. Derision is the best response.

15. The bucket "o Crazy is shared amongst the people who voted for and got her elected as well
The sad truth is that this shit is acceptable because their constituents believe the same garbage. We need to change their minds before the elected officials will turn over a new leaf. Only then will we have a government rid of such trash.

9. Rep. Virginia Foxx NC- 05 (R-Nutjob)

Foxx's total, 100% opposition to Obama, and to government itself, is NOT the mystery today. Our open questions go back a bit in history. We're still puzzled by:

1. A year ago, Congresswoman Foxx led House Republicans in defending Roger Clemens from accusations that he had benefitted from performance enhancing steroids, etc. Why? Why would she hang herself out on such a slim possibility? (This question gains salience in the last 24 hours from the admission of A-Rod, another steroid denier, confessing his sin.)

2. Why were Republican conservatives so opposed to delaying the transition from analog to digital TV signals? A few days ago, there was Madam Foxx leading the floor debate against extending the transition from this month to June, which was done to accommodate mainly poor and rural TV watchers who have either not gotten the message that their TV reception may be disrupted or don't understand what's about to happen. Why would Republicans oppose that? We're NOT asking why Virginia Foxx would relish leading the floor debate against it, because this woman loves something even more than butter ... getting her mug on TV.

10. They are reaching back into their old bullshit bag
and pulling out selected arguments they have used over the past fifty years or so to see if any of them might work today.

Their party has constricted into a narrow coalition of fundamentalists, neocons and supply siders. Their actions over the last 8 years have effectively cast aside fiscal conservatives and libertarians that used to be in their fold.

They are desperate to find some way to "scare" the impressionable centrists, independents and conservative democrats--a strategy that worked flawlessly after 9/11--and becoming more desperate as each successive tactic fails to get any traction--this despite the fact that they are getting plenty of help from the MSM.

It has only been 3 1/2 weeks since inauguration day. The passage of the recovery act is the latest and biggest success of the Obama administration, which has now stacked an incredible list of positive achievements in a remarkably short time. They are showing the republicans that the tsunami they feared on election night was not a mirage.

This narrow republican coalition, which more and more resembles the old confederacy in ideology and geography, will continue grasping at straws. They will reach back into all the old bags of tricks desperately searching for a message that can save them. And they will look more and more foolish, and constrict themselves into an ever narrowing ideological knot.

19. Where was Virginia FAUX hiding for the last 8 years?
1. That the democrats will not stop until they have taken away the rights of every single American citizen.

See "The Patriot Act", "Total Information Awareness", various Chimp "executive orders", etc.

2. That in the stimulus bill, that the democrats want to literraly take money out of the pockets of working people and give it to lazy people with no ambition.

You mean like the Chimp tax cuts for the rich did?

3. That the stimulus bill has provisions to give money to get criminals out of jail so they can go commit more crimes. (I researched this, and its so far out of context that it is close to a blatant lie.)

Meanwhile, not a single member of the Bush Crime Family has been prosecuted for the ACTUAL crimes committed against this country, and others. Except Scooter Libby, but even he got away with it.

4. That they all needed to go back and read the book 1984 again because that is where we are headed as a society.

Yes, and she speaks Orwellian better than Orwell did. Just like all neocon shitbags.
