I'm short.

My parents were fairly tall for being of the Depression/World War Two generation.
Mom was about 5 foot 7 -- she always LOOMED over me.
Dad was about 5 foot 11 -- and about 200 lbs. A fairly big guy.

I had tall uncles and aunts on both sides.

I'm a smaller version of my mother, physically.

But I'm only five foot three....WEEP

I'm 6'1" and a 54 year old white woman. I grew like Malia when I was 10 or 11 as well, reaching my full height at 14. But there was no Title IX, there was no celebrating the strength of woman--in fact, I was told over and over again not to show off and act stronger than the boys otherwise none of them would ever date me. Yeah, weird times.

It took me a long time, but I finally learned to love being tall. And Malia and Sasha have a great tall role model in Michelle. As well as the fact that the African American community has NEVER been as judgemental over a woman's size the way white people are! It warms my heart to see tall girls celebrated.

Now, maybe they'll finally start making clothes for us! You can get tall women's clothes if you're a size 14, good luck if you're a 4 or a 6!!!

I saw additional pictures on HuffPost from just before they get on Marine One, that has some spectacular views of the Chicago skyline in the background. The only one here so far shows a fuzzy Navy Pier in the background. Please please add them, please?

Actually as a diabetic food is torture for me. Literally torture. When everyone else around you can have pies and cookies and ice cream and you get...sugar free versions. Some are not always all that good either. I can have tons of protein but there is only so much sausage and bacon and hamburgers a person wants, you know? I can hero worship and live vicariously through Prez Obama and his love for pie.
