For Those People That Don't Believe The Corporate Media Is Slanted To The Right,
I give you exhibit A + infinity. This from AP's coverage of the cartoon controversy. Keep in mind the same News Corporation which own FOX News owns the New York Post.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090218/ap_en_ot/ny_post_cartoon

NEW YORK – The New York Post is standing behind a cartoon that some have interpreted as comparing President Barack Obama to a violent chimpanzee gunned down by police.

<snip>

A story about the cartoon on the liberal-leaning Huffington Post Web site drew hundreds of reader responses, many calling the cartoon racist and insensitive.

<snip>

You can read the entire news column by the AP and you will see no reference to the New York Post as being a conservative newspaper. So why would the AP refer to the Huffington Post Web Site as liberal leaning?

Are liberal viewpoints the only ones worth making a distinction to by the AP as if that were a mitigating factor to their concerns?

3. The battle is not being waged between liberals and conservatives, but between ...
"the corporate promoters" (M$M, some politicians and political elites) and "the rest of us."

4. some guy once did an actual study. He searched various newspapers like NYTimes for references
to words like "liberal" and "conservative".

The Republicans used to squawk that they were labeled conservative and it worked against them.

The results of this guy's study showed the exact opposite.

Politicians were much more likely to be labeled "liberal" than any were labeled "conservative".

6. I used to go into a local-independent coffee shop and chat with the owner. He was kind of a
douche-bag, but I like to argue with people so I overlooked it. One day he dismissed my "I saw it on such and such news", with "You need to read Bernard Goldberg's 'Bias', the media is sooo liberal biased!" He loaned it to me(much dog-earred). So I read it. What a load of crap. I did a week's worth of research and presented this guy with the study you mentioned as well as about 20+ other pages proving my point that the opposite was, if fact, true. That the media was clearly, and overwhelmingly, conservatively biased. He told me I was a "weirdo" for doing it, and refused to discuss the matter further. I have had the same, or similar, reaction from every Repug I have ever gone to the mat to prove wrong. They either completely ignore contradictory evidence and then avoid the subject with me thereafter, or they actually get mean and initiate bitter personal attacks. No liberal has ever done that to me. Even when I was very wrong arguing the conservative p.o.v..

It's very disheartening to know you know the truth, but the people who are making the decisions or causing the damage refuse to listen.

Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Oh, to make a long story short, I stopped going to that coffee shop.

7. I'm not familiar with the study you cite, but my take on labeling
politicians "liberal" as opposed to "conservative" by the corporate media is to discount that politician's power in deference to the corporate media's primary clients; that being corporations, using the premise that corporations want a weaker people's government.

11. And yet the AP never refers to that paper as conservative,
so what does that make the AP?

I would imagine about the only time something might not be labeled would be if it's moderate, middle of the road as labeling their viewpoints would become more difficult.

By deduction, this tells me, the AP believes Murdoch's paper; The New York Post is moderate.

12. hate to break it to you....but this AP article is proof of progress
How long has the New York Post been around? The Wall Street Journal? Both are owned by Rupert Murdoch and are giants in their field. They are extremely well known brand names.

How about Huffington Post? It is a very new entity spawned out of a need for liberal people like us to get some truth and accountability and where guests could have their articles published.

The fact that the AP is even referencing Huffington Post somewhat on par with The New York Post is great news. Can you imagine them mentioning what some guy wrote in FredsPost.blogspot.com? They aren't demeaning Huffington Post. By mere mention of them they are raising their gravitas and profile. Then again, they're merely following our president's lead as he issued them press credentials and called on them for a question. But the point is...it is working. Our voice is going mainstream.

13. Except that since, the 80s, hate radio, the Republicans and to some degree
the corporate media have promoted and or capitulated to the myth that the free press such as it is, was a "liberal" entity and the word liberal itself has been demonized by countless pundit puppets ever since.

I believe this strategy was done to dis-empower or estrange the intellectual class from the general populace as a means of weakening the American Peoples' government from a natural human resource or reservoir of strength in order to enable corrupt incompetents to the highest positions of power, ie; Bush as the latest example, all to to further corporate supremacy over the people and their government. In order to dumb down the American People, they had to dumb down the government first.

As of late the American People via the Internet have come to challenge the compromised establishment of the rigid corporate media's power and influence and I see this column by the AP as transferring the liberal label from the so called mainstream media to the Internet as a means of marginalizing the message from the American People in order to weaken the Internet's impact.

14. Have you seen this article by Robert Parry, UJ?
I'm tellin' ya..cmwhores=Public Enemy Numero Uno~

<snip>

By Robert Parry
Feb 16, 2009

"It was only a few years ago – when the Republicans controlled both Congress and the White House – that the U.S. news media offered up one-sided coverage of the Bush administration, relying on Republicans, right-wingers and pro-war military experts to shape what Americans got to see and read.

The reason for marginalizing Democrats and other critical voices, we were told, was that the Republicans were in power and it made no sense to have on guests or to quote experts who didn’t share in the power. The premium was to have Republican insiders explaining what was going on.

So, one might have thought that when the Democrats won control of Congress and the White House, Republicans would largely disappear from the TV chat shows and the news pages. After all, the Republicans today have even fewer representatives in Washington than the Democrats did during most of the Bush years.

But if you thought that, you would be wrong. Instead, the cable networks and the print media have been falling over themselves to get the views of Republicans and to disseminate those opinions widely to the American public.

During a key early stage in the battle over Barack Obama’s stimulus bill, the Center for American Progress examined the political affiliations of guests on major cable networks and found that Republicans outnumbered Democrats by 2-to-1. Suddenly, the premium was on the views of those out of power."

It's stuff we know just by observing but Robert Parry writes down for us..the burning question is ..how are we going to make the corporatemedia accountable for their treason(is that too strong a word?..I don't think so).

Peace to you, Joe:hi:
