17. Actually that is a Hindu Temple

While Monks at Buddhist temples don't kill pests or varmints they don't put out milk for them or have any temples that specialize in them.

In Thailand there are some temples that border rivers. For hundreds of years local buddhists respect the 'no killing' zone that the temple represents and the fish have learned to come back and rest there. You can look out on a busy river, not see any fish generally in the river and see ten thousand huddling around the waterfront in front of the temple, knowing that they will not be harmed. It is an odd and strangely reassuring scene.
