.... whom she viewed as her own child, (regardless of whether she should have kept him as pet to begin with) and whom she fed "people" food and cared for him better than some human beings are cared for, had to STAB the chimp herself in an effort to make him stop the attack. The heartbreak of EVERYONE involved.

I thought the story on her was a bit lurid and almost salacious. A screw was very loose in that woman's head...

8. Frenchie, as a resident of CT the chimp story is awful. The woman is in critical condition.

On the local news tonight there was a segment about how the chimp was nearly tearing the car doors off the owner after she ran to it and locked herself inside. NOTHING about it was funny. Add in comparing it to Obama and its downright racist, the shooting is violent. So its offensive to the poor woman who's face was pretty much torn off, its inciting violence against our president and comparing him to a chimp. Lovely. I am very angry over this.

10. You are right, Frenchie. Horrible story. Read in the article that...

that the woman victim...the chimp actually chewed both of her hands off. She must've been holding them in front of her face. In the 911 call, the owner is telling 911 that the chimp is ripping off her friend's face.

The officer quoted in the article said it was horrible, that the victim's injuries were truly life altering.

IMO, people shouldn't keep these and other exotics as pets. They are wonderful creatures, but they are too strong and dangerous, if something goes wrong. They don't have human boundaries of behavior. A 200 pound male gorilla is immensely strong. Much stronger than a human male of that size. It wasn't the chimp's fault, either. He had an illness. It's very tragic for everyone involved.

I was just willing to except that the cartoonist was a moron with a horrible sense of humor - but your comment about drawing the recently shot animal in that manner, combined with the OP's comment, along with the fact that the president just 'happens' to be a black man is far too much too swallow in thinking it's just coincidental. At the absolute BEST, the cartoonist has serious issues about black people but doesn't think of himself as a racist. I mean, really, who did he think was the one pushing the stimulus bill hard by visiting Congress? And he, rather CONVENIENTLY used the story of the dead chimpanzee ape to reflect it as the writer of the stimulus! And as the OP said, the cartoonist implies that the stimulus failed, because they "shot" and killed the writer of it??? Too weird, and really, the guy who made it is a louse, a complete and utter louse. There's no room for that shitty kinda 'humor'.

13. Truly a disgusting day...

I had to take a nap today. I really got a headache from this thing. My son came home today and saw it on the internet and said "Mom, they really hate us don't they?". I reminded him that not all people are racist assholes.

He's 15, has always been in diverse environments. He has friends of all colors in the rainbow and has experienced a few negative incidents himself, but today I saw such hurt in his eyes. It was strange, he loves President Obama and this incident seemed to hurt him a lot. There is no excuse for that violent, racist cartoon.
