Poll question: Are you optimistic or pessimistic about our economy
and the prospects of recovery? I happen to be optimistic. Am I being naive?

4. It'll get worse before it gets better.
Especially if they don't go after the Top 1%ers who are befitting from the Bush economy.

5. Depends on the time frame-
2009 is going to be ugly- so will 2010, at least in the states, much of Asia and Europe.

After that, there may well be some relief, though rising gas pices will dampen that considerably.

6. You are not naive
Pay attention to who says it will be prolonged and painful.

You'll know things are getting better when Bill Kristol says there is no hope.

8. Thanks. I think the pessimists can be infectious at times
I do think psychology plays a tiny role in all this...

7. I'm optimistic but I don't expect the economy to get better for awhile.
So...I'm an optimistic realist. :hi:

9. I don't think it'll take long
I think there a hundreds of thousands of people watching the DOW/Nasdaq/etc and trying to decide what the floor is, and when they figure it out, they will be racing to get in the market.

10. Very pessimistic I think we are nowhere near the bottom
Edited on Fri Feb-20-09 12:03 AM by doc03
we won't start a recovery for at least 5 years. The Stimulus is to little on substance a way too late, if Bush would have done it last spring it may have worked. Now at best it will just slow the decline slightly and do nothing other than dig us a deeper hole. Sorry that is how I feel, I am 61 and have never seen anything even close to today's mess. I have been planning to retire at 62 for years, I don't think it's possible now, the only way I can stop working now is to lose my job.

11. I'm optimistic
in the long-term. I think 2009 is going to be very difficult, but I'm hopeful that as the stimulus takes effect, and people get back to work, things will improve.

13. Optimistic - In the words of the late, great Robert A. Heinlein,
"Pessimists are correct more often than optimists, but optimists have more fun - and neither can stop the march of events."
