McMorris is the 5th ranking Republican in the House, I believe. She is in their leadership team and often is picture behind Boehner. She represents the eastern portion of Washington State. She is young, attractive, just gave birth to a Down's Syndrom baby, articulate and more experienced than Sarah Palin without any of the baggage. McMorris would have been our worst nightmare if McCain had chosen her at his V.P. candidate.

McMorris Rodgers says stimulus has benefits for state

Although she voted against the federal stimulus package last week and still disagrees with many things in it, Cathy McMorris Rodgers said she wouldn’t tell governors to refuse money from the bill designed to boost the economy.

“It would be very difficult to say no to money from the federal government,” she said Friday in an interview with The Spokesman-Review. “I understand why they are excited to have that money.”

When the House passed the $790 billion stimulus bill last week, McMorris Rodgers called it a big disappointment and a “big spending piece of legislation that does nothing to create jobs.”

Friday she amended that, saying it didn’t do enough to create jobs or address the problems with the housing market. It does have about $500 million in road and bridge projects for Washington state, which she said was a wise investment but too small a part of the bill. There is also money for more cleanup at Hanford and expansion of the Bonneville Power Administrations electric grid, which will translate into jobs.

3. A friend at work yesteday was talking

about someone she heard on the radio who said bush a stimulus bill that was bigger than this and no one said shit.

I find that hard to believe that it was "bigger".

4. It's pretty clear the GOP folks are taking two approaches

The ones that have designs on running for President in 2012, as well as those that think they may have a primary challenge in 2010, are standing firm in total opposition to the Recovery Act as a means of getting their republican bona fides on the record.

The rest are taking the "...well I supported some things in the bill, but couldn't bring myself to vote for the total package because it was way too costly and had pork in it..." approach. They are hedging their bets in an effort to look "reasonable" and minimize their susceptibility to the "obstructionist" charge.

8. McMorris is not articulate

My father ran against her in 1996... her previous job experience is working at McDonald's. It makes me sick that my family and my self have watched her rise to fame, and every step of the way bigger powers at work have been advancing her. She's weak and stupid and she does what she's told by leadership, which means she's a republicans wet dream.

TAKE NOTE: she will become very popular in republicans ranks in years to come.

ALSO: She touts her "American heritage" but let her fool you. She spent most of here life in Canada attending a Christian Taliban school, and she came back worked at Mickie D's for a couple of years and then inherited a seat from Bob Sump, who at the time was up grading to state senator.

PLEASE, DIANE R, DON'T THINK OF MCMORRIS AS BRIGHT OR ARTICULATE, everything is scripted or spoon feed to her. She's easily confused and can be tricked with questions that are worded differently. If that fails just ask her about her child hood in Canada.

Goldmark tried, and what made me die a little inside was the fact that Goldmark was born and raised in Eastern Washington. If the Goldmark campaign would have brought up the fact that she spent much of her time in BC... well I guess I can still dream.

I know in my heart that that if McMorris's father had slunk back into the US in for instance Idaho were she could have easily been installed as senator, it would have been McCain/McMorris in 2008. I think we both know that if McCain had won she would have been but in charge of some cabinet level position and later ran for national office.

Which is another reason that I'm eternally grateful that Barack won....

If you are from this area, you know that the Cowles family (whose mother is married to the publisher of the New York Times) completey controls everything and everyone in this area. They hand pick politicians, and decides who will be elected and who will fail. It's one of the most corrupt areas in the country.

They love Cathy. Cathy is a Republic Barbie doll. She has apple pink cheeks, porcelain skin, and perfect smile.

I know how they are and it makes me sick how much power they have in the region. My father ran against Nethercutt and found out all to well about the power that the Cowles have. I remember when McMorris ran to fill Nethercutts seat when he went to go impale himself on Patty Murray. I couldn't believe that McMorris actually made it the general election, she dispatched three worthy and competent primary opponents. Yeah someone is advancing her behind the curtain, and god help us if she's ever on the national stage.
