BRACE YOURSELVES! The Dogs are about to be Let Out!
With President Obama confirming that Bush's tax cuts for the Rich will be allowed to expire, I think that President Obama is about to be attacked by the Ruling Class (e.g., Republicans and the Corporate media) in a very hard way. :tinfoilhat:

I think they will attempt to slant, twist, misinform, disinform, omit, smear, and make shit up (as AP did with their twisted article that made it appear that the Obama Administration did something wrong in agreeing that POWs should not be tried in US Courts, Newsweek's Obama's Vietnam rethoric, and even with attempting to have us fight one another about who gets what breaks within the Foreclosure plan.

It is going to be a hard ass slog...... :scared:

1. They don't expire until 2011 though
I could see a reaction if the Obama Admin revoked it right now.

2. That's 2010, which is coming up soon
Edited on Sat Feb-21-09 07:57 PM by FrenchieCat

2010 is also the year of midterm elections!
What would happen if President Obama were to lose his majority in the senate or the house?
And if that might be one way of keeping the tax cuts from being allowed to expire,
when do you think a PR campaign would have to start, in order to make that it effective?.

Try not to be so naive, ok?

4. Oh. I've always seen 2011 and 2012
He has pledged to wind down the Iraq war by withdrawing most combat troops within 16 months of taking office. He also has said he would let the temporary Bush tax cuts expire in 2011 for people making more than $250,000 a year, effectively raising taxes on those people. And, he has vowed to scale back spending and improve government efficiency by eliminating programs that don't work.

25. The last day they're effective is December 31, 2010.
On January 1, 2011, the pre-2003 tax rates and rules come back into effect except for changes enacted permanently since then.

8. Rolling back Bush's tax cuts will pay for proposals...
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2007-04-01-obama-iowa_N.htm

"...During an hour-long talk, Obama promoted eliminating some of the income tax cuts enacted under President Bush, but resisted characterizing them as a tax increase.

The Illinois senator said that as president, he would roll back income tax cuts for higher incomes to pay for his policy proposals..."

Not the best site, but it has some deatils.

http://www.heritage.org/Research/Taxes/wm486.cfm

"Child Credit: This credit will shrink from $700 to $500 per child on January 1, 2011."

Obama to allow Bush tax cuts to expire on schedule

Sat Feb 21, 2009
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama will allow tax breaks given to wealthier Americans under his predecessor, George W. Bush, to expire as scheduled rather than eliminate them sooner, an administration official said on Saturday.

18. April 1, 2007......
goes on to read...."At no time did Obama say during the forum in front of an audience of more than 2,000 at Iowa Western Community College that he would propose raising taxes specifically to pay for increasing access to health care.

But Obama defended as a general principle the idea of reversing income tax cuts enacted during Bush's first term.

"One of the things I think we are going to have to do is reverse some of those Bush tax cuts that went to the wealthiest Americans ... and invest in infrastructure, invest in education, invest in health care for all," he told the group in Onawa."

Geeze, looks like he's keeping quite a few promises like investing in infrastructure, investing in education, and investing in health care for all. The Expiration of those Bush tax cut will reverse them....as things will be as they were before them.

I think considering how things have changed that he's doing pretty damn good!

temperament they are prepared to go based on what Obama is proposing on his budget.

By the time it gets through, with the added drama, it will be time for them to expire.

But you know that!

23. This hits them where they live.
All their other "issues"- pro-life, War on Terror, gay marriage, etc. are just pandering to get the votes they need to secure their economic goals. When Obama pushes for more progressive taxation it will get real ugly real fast.
