Alabama: 53-42 Bush over Kerry (But this is good news)
Rasmussen's latest state poll, Alabama, gives Bush an 11-point edge. Pretty solid and I don't expect Kerry to win the state, but the fact is Kerry is running better in Alabama than Gore did in 2000 at this point, and Bush is running behind his percentage of 2000. That can only be interpeted as good news.

In 2000, Bush won Alabama by a landslide 57-41 percent. So, Kerry is already a point up on Gore and Bush is 4-points below his 2000 margin and this is after weeks of positive media exposure for the Schrub.

2. Kerry should pop by Alabama
Just for the fun of it on a trip down to Florida. I don't expect to see Alabama go Democratic either, but wouldn't it be nice to make the Bushies spend a little time and money there that they then can't use in say, Ohio?

11. Edwards was here for a fundraising dinner about a month ago
Other than that, no recent Kerry sightings.

3. Bush support is eroded substantially
Their only hope is to drag Kerry down as far as they can- SBVT smears, etc...
Their arguement is: "Bush is bad but Kerry is worse".
Good luck with that Rove.

4. Lots of Kerry stickers around here
Bush will win here, but there is not a lot of enthusiasm for him.

Although, if an effort was made, it could be quite close. Black turnout is the key. With a major turnout effort, black voters can make up a third of the electorate.

Don Siegelman demonstrated that two years ago when he nearly won re-election as governor over Republican Bob Riley. Siegelman was way down in the polls and was written off. But turnout made it a cliffhanger.

8. My dad says hi
:)

Play for the popular vote. Kerry won't win the state, but a 40-45% showing across the Southern states we won't win will greatly increase the popular vote totals. Winning looks different, depending on where you are.
