2. It's another attempt at shifting the tax burden from the wealthy to the poor.

There is a part of me that likes point of sale tax....too much free money around, cash under the table that gets spent. Illegal activities, like prostitution and drug/arms dealing, big money buys Cadillacs while my tax dollars feed them because they have no traceable income.
The accountant in me is always looking for missing money.

9. The official "house.gov" site for the bill is hilarious

Here are a few things I am supposed to buy after reading their site:

Payroll taxes that our employers have to pay on our work are causing offshoring

"Hidden" taxes offset the low income tax brackets, meaning the "FairTax" is a better deal for these people

A 23% sales tax with 8% of that going to SS and Medicare is "revenue neutral"

The Chinese manufacturers and Wal-Marts of the country will lower their prices (and, it seems, their profit margin) to remain competitive.

A new federal tax on services like accountants, doctors, dentists, hair dressers is a good thing

10. It'll never get out of committee

The Dems did the same sorts of things over the past eight years. Put up a bill they know will never go anywhere and try to use it as a wedge issue.

This time, the Pugs are playing with fire because a consumption tax is overwhelmingly unfair to the vast majority of people and overwhelmingly shifts to tax burden off to the middle class.

This is another Republican attempt to have wealthy and poor treated alike, as far as what they pay in taxes.

I guess it's okay for Republicans to compare us to Europe when it suits their greed, but NOT when it would give us Universal Health Care, paid vacations, awesome pedestrian-only shopping zones, public transportation, etc.
