4. CBS News POLL: 79% approve of Obama's economic plan after speech (+17)
CBS News and Knowledge Networks held a nationally representative poll of approximately 500 people who watched President Obama give his address to Congress to gauge their reaction in the minutes after the president’s speech.

Though the results are not yet final, here are the preliminary findings.

Seventy-nine percent of speech watchers approve of President Obama’s plans for dealing with the economic crisis. Before the speech, 62 percent approved.

Seventy-three percent of speech watchers think President Obama’s plans will make the economy better. Twelve percent think they will make them worse, while 15 percent think they will make no difference.

Seventy-nine percent of speech watchers are optimistic about the next four years with Mr. Obama as president. Seventy-one percent said they were optimistic before the speech.

We will have a full report on the poll later on.

6. It's good for the most part.
Except for the part where he wants to give the banks even more money in the hopes that they "might" lend it out. It was really good.

But let's face facts, I don't care how much oversight there is or what rules are imposed, it is effectively an implementation and validation of trickle down econimics. Give the big guy money and "hopefully" he might wan't to pass it down.

13. Except that many of the "big guys" are small businesses that need to borrow money to make payroll
while waiting for their "Net 30" invoices to be paid by their clients.

If they can't borrow that money, they have to lay people off until credit is flowing again.

14. Your post pretty much validates my point.
Big guy gets money, little guy now has to go to big guy and hope that he's feeling generous.

15. Yeah, although the problem was that the first part of the TARP, there was no "forcing" of the TARP
recipients to start lending that money out.

Now, with President Obama in charge, any additional funds will be highly scrutinized and the TARP recipients better start using it to open up credit and lending.

16. Or else what?
That hasn't been made clear to anyone yet. It's funny yet sad that when the auto industry goes to Washington for a bailout they have to jump through all they hopes and get demoralized just so the pols can look good. (And no I don't care about auto industry execs, just making an observation.

Yet when Wall Street ask for a bailout, the execs aren't dragged in front of congress and they never feel compelled to explain their excess, nor are they in the slightest bit remorseful about their actions. So considering that Wall Street has such an obscene degree of arrogance and threaten to throw a bearish stock tantrum whenever they don't get their way. What exactly do you think President Obama and his administration is going to do to reign in these execs?

I'm afraid he's going to be in for a rude awakening if he thinks that they're going to lay down for him. Right now they have every lobbyist firm and every corporate associate whispering in the ears of the Obama administration to bend to their will.

17. Recognition of the fact that credit only realistically comes from a few large creditors,
and that providing credit to the market involves loosening those creditors, is not "a validation trickle-down economics."

And you misspelled "Ayn Rand."

Not the one on their website. Either way, Barack's dominating.

12. It's ALL GOOD, VERY VERY GOOD
I watched MSNBC and they had a dial-o-meter President Obama's speech the meter from both sides were off the charts in some of the speech. President Obama never went into the negative mark.

Jindal TANKED:rofl: Even the rethuglicons didn't approve of his speech. No off the chart, below the negative line mostly by the Dems, but the rethugs didn't give him a very high marks.
