Jindal hurt the GOP more than he hurt himself -- remember Clinton's 1988 keynote?

Republican ideas are just weak and out of touch w/ the reality people see every day.

Tax cuts & gov't is bad -- those ideas caused the disaster we're in, they eviscerated FEMA before Katrina, etc.

But for Jindal personally? Clinton's 1988 keynote address to the Dems was widely panned -- & no one can deny he's one of the best speechifiers around.

&, like Prez Obama, Clinton can actually think and talk in PARAGRAPHS.

2. There is a difference.

That wasn't Clinton's introduction to the American people. Clinton gave a response to Reagan's State of the Union earlier and hit it out of the park.

Was his keynote bad? No, just very long and that's where it was panned. Not because of his speaking style or because he didn't live up to the hype, but that he just went on and on and on.

Jindal's performance was not only bad, it was the first time he had the entire country's attention and he blew it. He's not charismatic and likable.

Clinton was and is.

4. I agree that he will bounce back, however:

-There were way more people watching last night, and it will be more broadly seen than Clinton's speech
-People weren't laughing at Clinton as we will heartily do with Jindal when his performance gets notoriety with the comedians and youtube. The comparisons to 30 rock's kenneth ... I wonder how long that will last.

Isn't there some saying about it being the kiss of death in politics when the public starts laughing at you?
