I'll agree w you that the policies under the * pResidency have done unsurmountable damage to this country but many things that Clinton signed (MF Trade Status w China, repeal of Glass-Stegall (banking deregulation), Telecom Act of '96) are also responsible. Sometimes it takes years to feel the effects of policies.

Absurdly low interests rates, the weak dollar, debt, the whole "ownership society" ... these turned Clinton accomplishments on their heads, promoting irresponsible spending.

7. I agree with you..

Much has been done over the last 2-3 decades to allow this great country to get to a point where a half wit could be able to bring us to our knees. In the fullness of time we will be better able to understand how this happened and hopefully learn from our mistakes. Deregulation is a big part of it. Our so-called 'watchdog' organizations (SEC, FDA, etc) have been rendered almost useless. I know when I was a kid if something were pronounced FDA approved it really meant something. Not these days.

Obviously we stand at a turning point and that is never a comfortable position to be in but I think from this point forward we will probably refer historically to 'before Bush' and 'after Bush' because while it isn't entirely Bush's fault it was his ineptitude that forced us to respond in an urgent way.
